So, I've had Mekton Z lying around for awhile and having been itching to get at least a series of linked skirmishes set up for play. Work on it has been going fairly slow with balancing school and a job as well as a few other responsibilities taking up my time.
I've been working on a terrain board for awhile now and its finally coming together. I've also been working on what miniatures I'm going to use and have decided to go with Mechwarrior Clix because of their availability, low price, and relative easiness to modify. I have a pool of players interested as well.

The terrain board will be desert/wasteland for the setting of the series (And my general obsession with Post-Apoc). It's design is modular with it being broken up into several 1-foot squares. It's designed in such a way that rivers are on one side of a few of the squares and can be arranged so that all the bodies of water meet. On the reverse side of the river squares there are more plain wasteland pieces for deep desert operations. The boards will use free standing terrain for details.

I went with Mechwarrior Clix so that I could get plenty variation and lots of minis cheaply. I'll be able to chop some of them up and custom build Mecha. Also having plenty of Roadstriker scale(P-Armor)and vehicle minis is great as well.

The series itself will be located in, as hinted at above, a Post-Apocalyptic world where most of the planet is wasteland.

Concept Name: DesertStriker(Word play off of Roadstriker because my original concept had everyone in them and not full size Mektons)
Synopsis: On a wasted world where chaos and order constantly sway back and forth, a band of courageous people stand in the way of those who would do evil. They are known as the DesertStrikers. Brave warriors who fight for those who can't. They operate in small groups wandering under the blazing sun, fighting for what is right when most others fight just for survival.

That's kind of the idea I'm running with so far. While being a slightly cliche Post-Apoc world I'm going with the less common, the people are trying to rebuild story, instead of the, life continues to spiral downward, type of story.

Constantly old technologies and machines are being dug up and put to use as well as the new discoveries being made and used to build new things. I feel that this sort of set-up is a more realistic approach to a "War makes things digress" that you get in some stories and games. It also offers some interesting gaming choices for both combat and story. The balance of power would constantly be shifting as Fact B is bested by Faction X which developed a new weapon from the data raided from Faction G.

Well, that's some of the ideas I'm playing with so far. I hope to get a more detailed world post on a later date.

My main inspirations for this world are (In no order):
Xabungle
After War Gundam X
Turn-A Gundam
Mad Max
and others I can't remember at the moment because my brain stopped working.

Sounds like fun. Are you going to use the regular Mekton Z rules or have you thought about using Mekton: The Movie to run battles? M:TM stips the system down to make it more dynamic for larger battles. That way you can play with many more units on the board- 20 or more per side with some ease.

Fang of the Sun Dougram may also be of interest… link

… as well as Overman King Gainer.

@Tgunner

It all depends on what kind of game I end up running. If I run it as a solid RPG I will use Mekton Z (and Plus when I order it). Though, if it ends up being a story based wargame then I'll probably run it as Mekton: The Movie when I order and check out the Mekton Tactical Display (I believe that has the rules for the movie, right?)

@Broadsword
I've heard the names before but hadn't really thought about them. I'll give them a shot once I finish Xabungle.

Yup, it's in the Mekton Tactical Display. You might also check into the Mekton Wars book one: Invasion Terra. It has the mass space combat system for Mekton. It runs Gundam style mass space battles with a fair amount of ease. Captial ships are single units and mecha are formed into squadrons of 10 mecha. Check it out:

SWEEET! I hadn't realized that Mekton Wars 1 had that! I have been debating over whether to buy another copy of the Z core book (This time the out of print version with the old cover) or another supplement like Mekton Wars or Starblade Battalion.

Since I've found a rules system like that I might have to get some scale 1/1200 Musai and Magellans and Salamis with all their little Balls, GMs, Zoks, and Zakus :D!!!
I find that interesting because my original campaign idea was set in deep space.
