Fellas, feeling that the AB figures French could do with some more "on campaign" style companions, I have asked Nick at Eureka miniatures to add these to there 300 club. I asked for figures in sleeved waistcoats, covered shakos,Spanish sandals etc. and the various accoutrements as would be fit for a soldier on campaign. More details can be obtained from Eureka themselves. So if you "need" more 18mm lead, please register your intrest and make my dream come true ;-) link |

If your need is urgent, you could possibly look at the Liberators/South American Wars range made by Grenadier Productions, which seem to incorporate a mix of French and Spanish (ie irregular) uniforms. I believe these have been designed to be compatible with AB. link |

Good Luck with the 300 Club. I've seen items on there for a few years with more than enough to make the minium "to make" number but nothing ever happens. I think they are at the mercy of their sculptor. It almost looks like he decides what they will make and takes the 300 Club as merely a suggestion. Just my observation

That's been my experience as well Doc. I'm eagerly awaiting word about their Danes/ Swedes. Last message I received from Nic several months ago was that he was still working on getting a sculptor. |

It can be frustrating waiting for new figures, can't it? I'm not part of Eureka (and as a Yorkie, Nic is more than capable of explaining himself), but having done research for him on a couple of AWI projects and some new bits and pieces for the AB Napoloeonic range, I know that some projects never get into production because, by the time the viability number is achieved, the original customer has gone elsewhere/lost interest/whatever and their chunk of the production run has gone with them. Nic has always maintained that he asks people to sculpt subjects that they themselves enjoy, because this gives a superior product. In addition, customers often demand that new stuff is compatible with existing ranges – AB and Perry being the most common – which considerably narrows down the field in terms of available sculpting talent. Then he has to fit into their current workloads – bottom line is that the whole process does take time. |

Red – those were two of the figures I've noticed have been on there for years. I think there was a thread awhile back here that talked about those two in particular and if you added up the demand it was several hundred over the number needed. As SM mentioned the desire for range compatability tends to limit the pool of people available to sculpt. If they do make the figures you want them to look good. However, given the demand you'd think there would be others out there willing to do the work or at least try. |
