I've been at it for a couple of months now, and things are finally starting to look impressive. See the progress so far at mikes-lead.blogspot.com

Comments and criticisms are welcome. Thanks for looking!

Lovely work. Well done. They look great, and the basing is particularly nice.

Hello.. yes very nice indeed. I also have an Adler Russian army that is slowly being put together (although I have 48 figs to a battalion for Shako2).

Your basing is particularly nice, but also your blog is an enjoyable read.

Very impressive and yes, the bases are especially good – although the ancients further down the page perhaps have the edge for colour and impact.

The self-deprecating style does make a good read too. :-)

Cheers,

Great blog and nice minis!

Those Russians look awesome. Adler sculpts look really good.

Interesting how you approached the non-clean lines in your bases.

Man after my own heart well done sir.

I'm not a 6mm fan, but I must say you've done an excellent job.

Makes my 6mms look dull and plain in the painting stakes. Wonderful job, can't wait to see the entire Army done.

Well done. Got to love those smaller scales and the mass effect.

Thanks for all the comments.

@NBATemplate: You're right, although I'd never really thought about it. I think the black shakos make the figures look darker at a distance (compared to the shiny helmets on a lot of ancients).

Moving into Napoleonics has really challenged my paint collection as well-- all of a sudden I can't use just any old green, for instance!
