Hi
I've more Imperial French Carabinieers than I can use, (as French).
Can anyone suggest what I can use them for?
I thought Westphalian Guard Du Korps, but are there any other suggestions?
Cheers

Westphalian Line Cuirassiers (esp 2nd Regt) 1812-13
Bavarian Garde du Corps and Cuirassiers 1814-15

Wow this is weird.I just got 2 units worth of 28mm late carabiniers in a auction. One of the units is going to be painted in the blue campaign uniform variant I discovered here on TMP(already have the white coat unit done).I was thinking the Saxon von Zastrow cuiraissiers for the other.Anyone see a major problem with that?

Bavarian Garde du Corps and Cuirassiers 1814-15!
Yep, I think that's a goer,…
Thanks

fitterpete
I also have late carabiniers in the blue campaign uniform variant, (also discovered on TMP).
My guys are AB Miniatures 18mm figs.
I think the French late carabiniers are a closer match / more similar in appearance to the Westphalian (or Bavarian) Guard Du Korp than The Saxon heavies; but if you're happy with them as Saxons, I'd say go for it.
Cheers

I think the Saxon Zastrow Kurassiers only had a breastplate, no backplate, but it's still one of the closest matches you'll get.

Although a good match, did the Bavarian cuirassiers ever see action?

I beleive you're right.Think I can "paint the backplate out though.

Supermax- don't think the Bavarian Cuirassiers were fully formed by the end of the wars, so I think you're right about their actual combat record.

Westphalians at least have their 1812 Borodino honour.

Bavs would look very attractive with their pale blue coats, but the Westphalians in dark blue with orange facings are nice too.

In addition to suggestions like Saxons &c., what about Russian Kurassiers? You'll have to do a bit of paring away at the "chenille" if you want the later version of the helmet, though.

Supercilius Maximus25 Sep 2009 9:20 a.m. PST

seneffe,

The only thing I can recall reading about them is that one officer was allowed to wear a bicorne in the field because the helmet played havoc with a head injury he had received in Russia.

Hi Colbert
Thanks for the links.
I had found some pictures also, but yours are "Nicer", (according to my wife).
Cheers
