Hi guys. I'm new to the napoleonic period, so I thought I would try my hand with some nicely sculpted cavalry from the Perry brothers. They are so extremely detailed that painting them up is a rather lengthy process (at least it is for me). I'm currently building up a twelve-minis cuirassier regiment, and so far I've only completed the command group. Here are some pictures of them. picture picture picture picture Cheers! Eric |

To be frank
they look marvelous!!! I know what you mean about them taking long (well I have not ordered mine but I am working on their Infantry), but theyare simply good minis! And your paintjob really does them justice! I am wondering
were the horses done using airbrush or drybrushing / stipling techniques? Cheers, Burkhard |

Very nicely done! I am convinced to stay with my old Staddens! I have no hope of ever painting the way you and others do in this group. But I will probably give in if Perry ever does French dragoons in the pre-1813 uniform. My Willie's Egypt dragoons just do not cut it now! GdeP |

I think the Perry twins might appreciate your skills and want to use those on their catalogue. Really lovely work. |

Thank you all for the positive comments. To answer some of your questions: the horses are painted using a medium gray paint primer, then the base color, a dark brown ink and then highlights. The dappling on the grey horse is not technically difficult, just long and tedious to obtain. I used an old brush to meld small spots of very diluted white on the grey background. No airbrushing or drybrushing involved. Since my painting time is really limited, painting all 12 minis is probably going to keep me busy until XMas or so. The flowers on the bases are made for railroad models, but they work well with this miniature scale. I figured since the minis are for the Waterloo campaign -late spring- there should be wild grasses and flowers on the bases. Eric |

/sarcasm_on Utter rubbish! did you use a palette knife to apply the paint! /sarcasm_off Seriously
will you wargame with those minis? and if so will you let anyone else touch them? |

VERY nice work. Good shading and highlights. It's not the speed that important but the quality

@Ssendam Of course I will game with them! And I'll let people touch them – but only those I know are capable of handling minis that delicate
The problem is that the horses' legs have a tendency to bend if you are not careful. Anyway, the point is academic right now since I do not have an army ready. At my current rate, I'll probably be able to field them in time for Waterloo's 200th anniversary. |

@ Rob Uk Sorry Rob, but I can't manage to get extreme close ups with my camera: it doesn't focus properly when the subject is too small. |

How did I miss those. Amazing painting skills you got there! The horses especially are jawdroppingly beautiful. |
