Can anyone point me towards a review of these rules, from the same stable as TSATF? Are they best suited for skirmish type games or lartger scale battles? I'm (still) planning a 15mm/6mm Plains War campaign at some point, intending to use the 'Yellow Ribbon' rules but all input on alternatives would be appreciated.

On a related note, is there a TSATF variant for this period?

Thanks all

I have a set and you are looking at around 120 indians for a game. I would set them at mass skirmish level

These are a free version of TSATF and to me are actually better than the aforementioned rules

Why would a variant set of rules be needed for TSATF? It is the era for which they were designed.

maybe 'variant' is the wrong word – 'supplement' maybe better, and Lowtardog has come up with the goods! Any more feedback on the way that BB&S plays would be appreciated though!

Amongst other things, the shooting mechanisms are a bit clunky. Overall, not the best thing out of the Brom stable. And I'd agree with Lowtardog -The Tommahawk and the Flame play better.

Yellow Ribbon are figure intensive but really model how the Indians behaved.

I must agre with Extra Crispy!

For all my fondness and respect for the Spawn of The Brommer (his rules, that is), I must say I've yet to see a set of Plains Indian Wars rules that come anywhere near to portraying the Native Americans as they were in battle.

A masterful rules set--get them when/where you can.

Yellow Ribbon IS great at handling Indians. The Command and Control section is a little fuzzy. I have been taking another look at Tomohawk and the Flame and find that it DOES attempt to make Indians less controllable. How well it's done remains to be seen in action. I will give them a try.

Thanks,

John

Thanks all, looks like I'll stick with 'Yellow Ribbon' – luckily QRF still have copies of both YR & CWTB available in the UK.

"…luckily QRF still have copies of both YR & CWTB available in the UK…"

I don't see these on the web site…

Gracias,

I picked mine up at a show – worth emailing Geoff, I suggest.
