The figures are very nice indeed, and shooting them outdoors is cool.

The stone you use on the bases, I think, is too large. They look as if they are crossing an empty stream bed. I'd use just a few of the pieces that size and sand or railroad ballast over the rest of the base. It's also worth noting that most of the battles were fought on farmland which would have been cleared of stones like that.

Still really nice work though!

Mark. Thanks for the advice. Very spooky that you commented as I was actually just looking at some of your figures on the fighting15s website! lol

With the bases I am just trying out various methods to see which I prefer/looks good. I might try grinding down the budgie grit further! :)

I would like to know how you get the clumps of grass to clump like that (with the strands standing up, and looking bushy).

Any time I try to use what is called static grass I get a small mound of grass, and it looks terrible, and I scrape it off. I'm good using normal flock, but I'd like to have clumps of grass, and not freshly mowed turf.

Nice Figures BL!!
I make clumps of grass out of hemp rope. Cut off a section of rope glue it down and paint to taste after it's dry.

Have to agree with the stones on the bases. Unless you are doing a specfic desert area, I would stick with grass and dirt. Most of the US where the battles take place where very well watered and had plenty of ground cover. Unless you going for a mountain slope appearance?

Nice painting!

Too many stones but the size of them seems ok to me.

Give up on the grit and just get a coffee can full of playground sand!
