A fellow wargamer, because of crippling health issues for both him and his wife, is breaking up his household of thirty years. Among the items he will not have room for in his new smaller location is a complete hardbound set of the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion (the Morningside Press edition). Please have a look at link |

Scott, What about an original edition that belonged to a CW Veteran that finished his Army career as a Lt Gen? My wife feels it's redundant to have that and the re-prints. |

I, too, was wondering what a set sells for these days. |

IF it's in good condition it ought to be worth a couple of thousand $, anyway. |

Scott, according to your link, its the National Historical Society reprint. That's the version I have. It's on thinner paper (but acid-free, IIRC) than the original edition, making the volumes thinner. Still requires a lot of shelf space. I think I paid $2,000 for mine about 20 years ago. It was used, but much of it was still in shrink wrap. Of course, now it's readily available on CD/DVD, so that might make it harder to get a good price for the real thing. I have both, but mostly use the real books -- easier to browse. The DVD is handy if I want to cut-and-paste a large quote. |

As mentioned, I am only the middleman. I have put several inquirers in touch with the seller. He has not shared his asking price with me. |

I have the Official Records edition pubished in the 1980's that I'd be willing to part with. Still in shrink wrap. Plus the atlas (used). If interested send me a PM or email. jonn1@sbcglobal.net Jerry |
