Does anyone know what the Iranian uniforms looked like in WW2? I have found quite a bit of info on their tanks, ships and planes, but little on the uniforms worn by their soldiers. I think they also had a lot of cavalry. Looks as if Mauser rifles and Czech LMG's are the main small arms….not to sure what they had for artillery beyond some Schneider pieces…..

If you're on the Flames of War forum, there was a thread (with fairly limited info) on that very subject once:

Thanks Kaos….exactly what I needed. I thought this might make an interesting convention game. The referees/game master could run the Iranian forces and the players could handle the Russians and Brits/Indians. Victory would be based on meeting objectives in a timely manner while keeping casualties down. Some players might even enjoy the extreme challenge of running the Iranian forces. Command Decision might work well for rules….or maybe Panzer Leader/Blitz for miniatures….

My pleasure :). You might like to look up the German Operation "Long Jump" :) for a smaller type game LOL.There is an excellent article on it in the Issue #7 of S&T's World at War magazine. Robert

Wow! Some of the Eureka 15mm Chinese Warlord infantry have almost the exact uniform from the link provided by Kaoschallenged.

Actually the EXACT uniform etc can be found with the QRF Hungarian infantry.
Same uniform cut, helmets, belts and ammo belts, and of course puttee's.

Thanks again Kaos….I was just about to post asking about the colors for the Iranian tanks….I have B&W photos…but you already have the answers posted here!!

I plan on modeling this all in micro scale. Looks like the Rumanian R-1 from H&R/Navwar can stand in for the Czech light tanks and an R-2 or Pzkw38T will be adequate for the heavier tanks….I had found that book you mentioned…and another that I have on Czech armor. Seems the Iranians got 100 or each type of tank and split them up between their 1st and 2nd divisions.

Sudwind28 Sep 2009 10:05 p.m. PST

Ooopsss….fifty of each tank type…

Very interesting article. The Brandenburgers are a fascinating Spec Ops type unit in the WWII German Army. I read a few books on the topic.
