Great work Simon. Old Glory's Thureophoroi also fit well with all of these and are some of their best ancient figures.

Thanks for sharing,

Bill.

Hi William, I've not seen the OGs "in the flesh" (although I do like the shields).

Hi Mike, sorry I know nothing more than on the site. I might see GB at a show in late October, perhaps find out a bit then….

I agree on the Old Glory Theureophoroi. I have crusaders myself and will add some GB. But a friend has OG (from a long time ago) and they are really nice. Not sure about the size comparison between OG and the ones you've got.

Those area really nice figures, Simon.

Another gem. Nicely painted figures and a very helpful comparision Simon.

I was interested to see you used the Essex shields – I debated getting more of these but ended up cutting down old spaghetti like Greenwood and Ball pikes instead.

Mention of Essex brings to mind that apart from the Thureophoroi proper their Macedonian, Greek and Thracian ranges have figures that meet the bill. Certainly large figures – with the right shields you have acceptable thureophoroi. Even some of the unarmoured Hoplites (especially with off the shoulder tunics) could work. Their poses are almost 'dynamic'!

Cheers

Hi Garry,

I reckon the Essex shields are very good; cast on spears are such a good idea. I've not seen the minis though… nor the OGs Idontbelieveit, in the flesh (but I've seen them nicely painted).

Cheers, Simon

Yep. They match purty good with Crusader, so…

I think… yep, Jonasthenes mixes Old Glory and A&A (!) and Newline here:

Yes, those are the ones I was thinking of, Allen. I like the uniform.

I do love the standard JJ has with that unit; I tried to import some but couldn't get the right one.
