Could I mix the 2 ranges side by side and get away with it??

I'm sure you'll hear from others shortly, but my 2p--the Front Rank are just a bit stockier than the Perrys but are well within the normal range of actual physical types. I use them both together with no hesitation and I'm fairly picky about such things.

I wouldn't mix them into the same unit, side by side, but it would probably look ok if you kept each brand in their own regiments. The FR figures are chunkier while the Perrys look slim and natural. The Front Rank sculptor got better as time went by and I think that his Napoleonic and WSS ranges are much better than his AWI range, which came earlier in his career.

Figures are not uncompatable, you need to bear in mind Perry designed theres for Foundry in one style themselves and then a differrent "slimmer" style for their own company, and recently. Where as Alec of Front Rank designed his at least 15 years ago and what people expect has changed, no doubt if he had the time to re do them they would be differrent, although his style is closer to other companies out there than Perry who in my view seem to do things just a little bit differrent. I would use both myself, although sold my AWI collection some time ago. However I have figures from both companies in my medieval armies and they sit well together.

I generally keep them in seperate units but have several militia units with Perrys and FR mixed and they look fine. The FR British Legion dragoons are particullarly good.

No problem mixing the odd FR in with Perry units, as they just look like the occasional "better fed" character. But I would not put a Perry into an FR unit, as that would look a bit odd.
