I've been pushed forward and the carpet's going in tomorrow woohoo! Also went and bought 2x 7ftx4ft bookcases, and a 5x3 one.. and.. a 6x3 glass display cabinet all in the same finish! TW. |

Looks fantastic. I can't wait until it's my turn to build something like this. |

Carpet? Carpet is for wimps. You should have tile floors, so a dropped miniature has NO chance of survival. Back in the good old days, we worked hard to keep our figures from being knocked off the table, and if one fell off, we just toughed it out. Yessirree, units are rarely at full strength, any student of history will tell you
blah blah. Seriously, what a great space. I am pleased for you! I'd get the carpet too. Make it spilled soft-drink and beer colored. Jim |

Where did you buy the shed? And did it come with specs or suggestions for the mods you did, or was that your own design. |
| Theword | 16 Sep 2009 6:43 a.m. PST |
Hi Noran.. I had the shed built by Total-span here in Aus. I basically said I want a 6mx6m steel shed.. I would have gotten in slightly bigger but my back yard limited what I could do due to an easement.. I would have preferred about 8mx6m.. next time.. As for the internal walls etc
that's just all guess work and asking people in the know what to do.. I am no tradesman so some of the work is a little.. well let's say it could have been better, but most of the errors got covered with plaster anyway. Cheers, TW. |

Wow, that is going to be a pretty insane room. Do you have any of the decorations picked out yet? |
| Defiant | 16 Sep 2009 8:01 p.m. PST |
lots of Napoleonic prints I would suggest
|
| Theword | 16 Sep 2009 10:27 p.m. PST |
I've only ordered one Napoleonic Print so far.. should be arriving from the UK any day now. I'm also going to put some of my own military stuff in there..somehow, such as my own medals and some photos etc
a few things i picked up overseas, and of course I will finally frame and put up my limited edition Corps print! The three shelving units get delivered tomorrow, but I'll have to wait a few weeks for the glass display unit as I wanted them to make it in the same finish as the shelves.. I've been eying up a couple of nice chairs and a small coffee table but I'm watching the budget a bit now as we are going overseas for a holiday at Christmas.. plus I have to still finish the back yard yet! The one thing I'm not sure of is the table.. in the past I've always simply had an 8x4 board sat on table.. simple enough.. that might just have to do for the time being. TW. |

my suggestion is to make a series of 4x4 tables that can connect together, maybe 4 of them. As they are not needed they can facilitate a use as unit marshaling areas for both sides to hold troops as needed for the main battlefield tables. Or any other use for that matter. I want to do this myself for my own room but just have too much else on to do it. Shane |

Yeah.. that's actually a really good idea Shane.. hmm.. I'll have to think on that one (ie how I'd do that). Cheers, TW |

Hi, I put considerable thought into sizing tables for my own room. It's a UK converted garage, and the biggest table I can fit is 6' x 12' – but you can only game if you are very thin! I did 2 6'x4' tables, 1 4' x 4' and 1 2' x 4'. the last one is very useful for odd extensions as needed. I built the tables on a plan designed by my brother and they fold up almost flat. Most people seem to think that 6' is the widest table than can be used – something to think about if you're using 4' sqaure tables. |

Damn but you Aussies have too much space ;-p (just jealous, looks great). If the missus and kids didn't want a garden at her house, well, a smaller garden, I might get something in that's near to that size, but we'd love pretty much everything else. hmmm, 6 years and the youngest is old enough to kick out to Uni
.. :-) |

Ha! My yard's less than 700m2.. it's small really considering we have an entire CONTINENT to build on (I could never figure that one out). We intend on buying 2-3 acres nearby in the next 3-5 years if it remains affordable around here. Then I can re-do this whole project again..just slightly bigger.. Also, just to clarify, whilst my wife and kids are all born-and-bred Aussies, I am myself a Kiwi.. I'm just privileged enough to be able to call the two best places on earth home = ) TW. |
