Hope that I can get some help as usual.

I have beenusing a metal 92 tin, 7.5% antimony and 0.5% copper. I believe the same as GW uses. But is hard to get now in the area.

We had a stock of a metal 66% lead and 34% tin. Excellent results. But now we need to go back to lead free metal.

Can anyone suggest a metal similar to GW in quality? A company proposed me one 95% tin and 5% copper. I need a metal that will hold very good detail and will flow pretty easily for ease of casting. We have top Nicem equipment in place.

The problem is that minimum orders for metal are in the order of 100kgs. And I will hate to invest several hundred € in a metal that will be useless.

Also any good source for metal producing companies located in Italy? Due to the weight we can not aford to buy it abroad.

Thank you,
Chris ala rolljordan

Hello I have the same issues in Portugal!
But here they wanted me to buy 25 Kilos of antimony,25 Kilos of tin ,and 25 Kilos of Copper…!
Could someone tell me if the Antimony and Copper melt easily with the tin on a normal temperature?
I am just starting on 1/48 figures and have been using pure tin!
Many thanks
Gui

Actually I need to find out a composition of a good metal for 28/32mm figs. Good in detail and not too fragile like for example old Rackam metal. As for the source I have several locally.

The antimony will make your castings very brittle. Spears and swords will break easily.

Thanks CM8 92%tin works great. Got it locally in Italy at 100kgs shots.

MCP sell metal alloys so you don't have to mix them yourself. They are happy to sell 25k lots.

I have been lurking for several years on this forum and decided it was time to contribute. For those in the United States, the Dunken Company has lead free pewter alloys for sale in small quantities. The alloy he uses and sells is 92% Sn, 7% Sb, .5 % Cu and .5% Ag. They make custom molds and do casting also. I know the owner and he will be the one who answers the phone. Give them a try. dunken.com

Thanks General but they are quite too expensive.
