May I just wish all our Scottish friends a most happy Pinkie Day.
I know you all need cheering up after last night LOL

Just think you've something to look forward to next Summer now – England losing on penalties again. See! Every cloud …..

Also the birthday of Mungo Park – look him up if you don't know.
Personally I'm looking forward to the European Court ordering the repayment of all the oil revenue from the 1980s after Alex Salmond wins the independence vote.grin

Not sure if winning a battle called "Pinkie" really counts as an achievement in the first place…

Big Martin10 Sep 2009 5:54 a.m. PST

I thought the Scots lost at Pinkie. Or am I missing the point?

I am just trying to show support for the Bonnie Old by denigrating the achievements of the Englishmen in the 16th century…

While at it, the 496th anniversary of Flodden was yesterday.

What makes you think that an independent Shetland Isles would vote for the SNP?

Oh Bugger10 Sep 2009 11:01 a.m. PST

Dear me Buff, I think your caught in a logical contradiction, still I think I see where your coming from. Rejection is always hard but you just have to get over it and move on. Its a brave new world.

I was presuming that, as they returned Liberal MPs for the last 100 years save for a brief period when they voted Tory, they wouldn't know what to do on their own and would end up Independent Scots rather than Danes.evil grin

"Verily foresooth shall ye beware of the cross-dressing ginger varlets" – Edward Longshanks c:1282 – just before luncheon

Pinkie does come across as that typical Scottish defeat--They were in an excellent defensive position--Thought this was unmanly/cowardly and spoiling for a fight attacked and got defeated……..

Trust the Sweaties to name a battle after the smallest finger …….. and a gesture using two of the others to anybody who thinks the European Court would stand even a remote chance of wresting any oil money from Britannia …….. :-)

Gwydion11 Sep 2009 12:04 p.m. PST

I do hope that wasn't a personal attack huh? – and to think you were my hero in the Beano! grin

General Jumbo22 Sep 2009 12:37 p.m. PST

Only if you're ginger! ;-)
