Hi all,
Molniya miniatures- molniyafigs.com is coming out with new batch of 15 ships in 1:2400 scale that are not made by other manufacturers. If there is an interest I will post here the names and prices.

Any chance you will consider extending the line to WW1/WW2?

Quite a few of the ships here and in Molniya catalog took part in WWI. I specifically do the ships now that nobody else does. Most prolific is Panzerschiffe, and although some may criticize quality, IMHO those are great ships and certainly I do not want to compete with the guy. What I really want to do are the ships that were never built- especially Russian dreadnoughts. There is a site for them with all the blueprints and data- very nice! That might be a nice project.
WWII-? I have not thought about it- yet. One step at a time!

Consider the US armored ram Katahdin. Completely useless and silly but they deployed her for the Span-Am war and she is unique.

sergeis06 Sep 2009 1:39 p.m. PST

Yes, Sir, but I might have trouble finding plans on her…

oceanway06 Sep 2009 2:57 p.m. PST

Hi Sergeis,

Looking forward to your Swedish/Greek/Turkish types.I plan to buy these in a fair quantity as we plan on having our
smaller powers fleets larger than they acctually were.
I hope you may consider the ships of the Dutch/Danish fleets
also.Count on my support on the smaller powers.

Hi David! Swedes are definitely in the works- I have Fylgia cruiser started, have some data on other ships. For Greeks now- only Lemnos/Kilkis – formerly US Idaho/Mississippi- sold in 1914 to Greece. But I think there is some data on other Greek vessels. Turks are very tough- I have only a couple of poor photos on Messudieh and Mejidieh. No plans whatsoever.
I think there will better luck with Danes/Dutch…

Sergeis,
For the Turks, try to find a copy of The Ottoman Steam Navy, 1828-1923 by Bernd Langensiepen and Ahmet Guleryuz. Lots of photos, also drawings/plans of many of the ships.

I wish the Greeks were so well provided for. The armored cruiser Georgios Averof has several Google listings. This one has photos and a plan/elevation: link

There is a plan/elevation for Spetsai on this Russian language website: commi.narod.ru/bmc/2mk/bs_1.htm

Best of luck--please keep us updated on how it goes!

Georgios Averoff is an Italian built Piza class cruiser- available from Panzerschiffe. The ones are not available are Spetzai class ( Hydra, Psara) coast defence ships and cruiser Helle. Turks had 2 old German predreads- Woerth class- renamed of course. Their cruisers are not that readily available though..
Thanks for the info!
