What FR figures should I use to represent Imperial and Prussian forces for the WSS? I am guessing the Generic/Dutch castings for hatmen and horse??
French castings for Bavarians?? Thanks.

I can't say for 100% that they could but I would assume the Generic castings would be good as Prussians.

depend Prussians usually wore the sworbelt under the coat..

It depends on the Prussian regiment you are representing. Some of them had a different cuff than the generic WSS figs (Swedish cuffs I think but I don't remember and I don't have my sources at hand). I had corresponded some time ago with them about whether they planned to do Prussian figs. They were considering Prussians and Danes (I don't know what is different about Danes at all) and I don't know whether they decided or not to go ahead with that. If you ring them up to find out, please post what you find out back here :-).

I'm not ringing then up..I don't actually care that much..

OK maybe not Prussians then, but then again I am no purist either. What about the Imperials and Bavarians? Would the WSS codes be ok for the Imperials? I see that they have codes for Austrian grenadiers and officers. Do the Bavarians have more of a French cut or should I use the same WSS generics as the rest? Thanks.

I would use the British infantry for Bavarian infantry. The WSS/ Dutch and Austrians will do for for Imperials. Prussians are usually depicted with the sword belt inside the coat, but not universally so. Danes wore a double breasted coat. FR's page says they are coming.

"Danes wore a double breasted coat. FR's page says they are coming." Nice!

The Danes are done just need moulding and release dates. As stated for Imperials use the generic range, generic grenadiers. As for Prussians, it is a bit confusing and you cannot say for definate what they wore, I pose the question if they wore the belt under the coat, why when nobody else did, the fashion across all the other nations except Danes was the same, maybe the illustrations we are seeing are for a slighter later period/adaption, no one knows for sure when drawings done. I for one would use the generic range also for Prussians. Bavarians, use British if you feel they wore gaiters like British or Generic if not trim off the oak leaves. Again we cannot be sure exactly when Bavarians started wearing gaiters. The choice is yours. My Leib and kurprinz regt are British grenadiers converted (axe cut away, and a head swap, I wanted the laced coats for these two units and gaiters, I am greedy!!).
Hope this helps.

Any chance of Bavarian grenadiers with pistol holster and axe?

As to using British, the gaiters are ok, but weren't the Bavarian cartridge box and water bottle unique?

I noticed the WSS/Dutch all have a sprig of green in their hat bands. Was this a common sign in other forces besides the Dutch or will I have some filing to do to make these suitable imperials?

andygamer06 Sep 2009 8:53 p.m. PST

Yes, Leadjunky, the sprig of oak leaves in the hat/cap was the Imperials' "field sign" that the Dutch figures are sculpted with too. (Although I don't think the British wore them. Figured the red coats were good enough, unlike the various white-coated Imps and the Dutch, I'd imagine.)
