Hey Guys,

Nic from Eureka Miniatures has just posted up a 100 club entry for some 28mm Württembergers. For those of you not familiar with the style and quality of the Eureka 28s, i'd direct you to the following links. In size, they fit in well with Perry and Victrix.

The 100 club entry is for the elite Wurttemberg light infantry – the Jägers and leichte-Infanterie. Anyone who's read Gill's With Eagles to Glory will be well aware of the exploits of the Württemberg light troops in 1809, where they played a pivotal role in the Eggmuhl campaign.
The figure request is for the 1809 uniform, but Nic has said that he would probably also do the 1807 uniform (with the leichte Infanterie in casquet with horsehair plume) as a tie in with the French Revolutionary Wars range. For details of the uniforms see this link:

Basically, the range would consist of a few light infantry poses (e.g. firing, loading, kneeling firing and advancing) and there would also be an officer and a hornist, ideally also an NCO figure and a drummer and *possibly* a standard bearer. I'm pretty sure that the jagers didn't carry a standard in the field, but a lot of people do like to have standard bearers. With a variety of poses, these figures could be used for both skirmish and larger scale battles.

So if this sounds like something you're interested in,. head on over to the Eureka 100 club site and put your name down. Once the number of pre-ordered figures reach 150 with at least 10 people registering interest, then the figures go into production! The cost is AUD3.00 per figure, so about 1.50GBP or 2.50USD. Eureka are available from eurekaminusa.com in the US.

The url for the 100 club entry is:

I'm up for it, especially if they would be anywhere near as nice as their Revolutionary War and WAS Dutch range.

But I'd like for Eureka to do the 1809 Württemberg line infantry and artillery as well as just the lights. Is there any interest in doing those as well?

There seems to be a dearth of good Württemberger miniatures on the market for 28mm. I only know of Firing Line and Old Glory, neither of which are compatible with the other Napoleonic minis in my collection, nor with my painting style.

Ideally i'd love to have them do the whole bunch – agree, for some reason the Wurttembergers have been almost totally neglected, and apart from the older old glory or bircorne figures, there is nothing available that fits in even with Foundry, to say nothing of the Perry and Victrix ranges. I'd love to see 28mm line infantry, line and horse artillery, Jagers zu Pferd and maybe even a few Generals! Here's hoping we generate enough interest in the light infantry to get them done, then put up some other requests :)

You bet! Very interested.

I notice that Newline Designs has a range of Wurttemberg troops. Does anyone here have any first-hand experience with that tange?

Elite Miniatures has a range as well.

ansbachdragoner31 Aug 2009 10:43 p.m. PST

I've got some of the Newline goths, and while nice sculpts, they are closer to 25mm than 28s. The pics of the Bavarians put me off their Napoleonic range – the Bavarians have the wrong headgear – they're wearing a Baden style casquet instead of the Raupenhelm.
I've got some of the Elite Wurttemberg line, but unfortunately they don't have any light infantry.

At last!!! The so called "Minor" States really need a good line of figures – W'burg, Baden, early Confederation troops such as the Saxe Duchies etc are all missing quality sculpts. IMHO the current ranges (Bicorne, Connoisseur, Elite) just don't cut it next to Perry, Front Rank and Foundry. Please bring on the range Nic – perhaps a signature Eureka Confederation of the Rhine range??

Gentlemen, for light, line AND artillery , plse have a go at Newline. Got them and they are perfect (ok for Vitrix and Perry-size)

BelgianRay, can you tell me the Wurtemburgers are a match to Foundry early French, Austrians and Bavarians?

Found a few pics of them here.

They also have the Foundry Prussian and Austrian packs listed with pics from the old catalogue if anyone else is interested.

Have to agree that a quality minor states range would be very welcome, especially from a quality comapany. Sorry, I have limited time to paint top quality stuff let alone waste my time painting newline etc just because they make the figures!!

I would love to see a complete Wurttemburg range of line/light infantry, artillery and cavalry. Would love to see Badeners as well. A signature confederation range would be a unique idea!!

von Winterfeldt02 Sep 2009 4:10 a.m. PST

But what to make 1806 or 1809??

What was the difference between 1806 and 1809?

christot02 Sep 2009 4:32 a.m. PST

Good Wurtemburg light infantry would be welcome…
The Bicorne range aren't too good (polite understatement). However, they also confusingly carry the Firing Line range which is much, much better, particularly the line infantry and cavalry (although the light infantry are not as good).
I've just finished some:

Thanks for the votes of support guys.
Von Winterfeldt: If the light infantry go ahead, Nic was saying that he would most probably do both the pre and post 1807 uniforms, as a tie-over to the French Revolutionary range. I'd be guessing that if he was looking at doing the line infantry, there would be a possibility of both the pre and post 1807 uniforms. From what I can tell, the main difference was that the helmets pre-1807 had a long horsehair ‘mane' (a la French dragoons) and post 1807 had the stiff horsehair ‘comb' (a la Austrian helmet)

IIRC the Pictures on the Newline site are actually Wurts incorrectly labelled as Bravarian (sic)

Duc de Limbourg05 Sep 2009 4:14 a.m. PST

AFAIK the early wurtemburgers (with horsehair plumed hemet) could be used for revolutionary bavarians (rumford uniform0 I think.
