I have just started a HOTT fantasy campaign that I expect will run throughout the fall
maybe into the winter
we shall see. The campaign is being played on two levels. There is a strategic element that is being played by email – involving friend who no longer (or never did!) live in Saskatoon. They are playing the heads of state of teh various nations and conduct diplomacy and make strategic decisions about the movements of their field army. The Strategic element will basically act as a scenario generator for games to be played locally on our regular wednesday night games night. I'm doing it this way for two reasons – one is to keep friends abroad (well.. not in Saskatoon) involved in the shenanigans I am up to, second
well
I just don't think I could get seven guys to regularly show up every week for three to four months in a row! Reports of the battles and political maneuvering will be chronicled on my blog. So far you can see the map and a list of the nations involved. link Currently players are conducting their opening negotiations. The first seasonal turn moves are due September 7th
Battles start on the 9th
stay tuned for all the action! |

More interestingly, the diplomacy is blind in that the players don't know who is whom and messages are routed through the umpire. Thus I may be making deals right now with the dastardly CVT--someone I would never choose to deal with if I knew it was him :). |

As the snows begin to melt in the northlands and turn the frozen creeks in their deep gorges into raging torrents, another sounds rings down from the mountain passes that heralds preparations for war! The crack of the whip, the shout of the captain, the clanking of arms and armour and the bellow of unspeakable beasts that ought better have been left in their caverns below
Spring is here and the armies are assembling

Year Two Summer The Orcs are in retreat

and the second year of the campaign draws to a close
Things are looking not-so-good for the Orcs and their allies, but winter approaches and armies will be replenished. It will be interesting to see what comes next spring. link |

Wow
A bit of an upset and a potential shift in the balance of power
Ronarok could be screwed if the Orcs are as good at besieging their capitol as they were at taking Marhan! What will become of the Grummsh? I wonder how the Tria Nominian Imperator "Orc-Lover" Mediocrito is going to take the Elves being his new Imperial overlord!? It'll be interesting to see what happens in the rest of the year! link |

How you make the map? Software or by hand? |
| Tim in Saskatoon | 21 Oct 2009 6:31 p.m. PST |
bit of both
I did the line drawing by hand, scanned it, and coloured it in photoshop. |

The Summer of Sieges
link No pictures this turn, as sieges are simple resolved by a single roll of a die
But dramatic none the less! |
