I have aquired from Ebay good old Citadel GW Bretonnian minis that have the correct arms and armour of 1300s And Have plans to make a Black Prince Poitiers Army.
I was wondering if anybody knows if they mix well with other 28mm/ 25mm figures?
The main ones I have looked at are
Crusader,Foundry,Black Tree Design
Fronk Rank and Perry?
I am asking this question because I have purchased some Old Glory Mtd English Command and they are really small compared to these Citadel Mini's?
Has Anybody Mixed them before?
Cheers TOM

GW figures have undergone a lot of scale creep, so it depends on how old there are. Are these the very HYW ones from the late ‘80s early ‘90s? As I remember, those are very similar in size to Foundry's range, in fact I think a few of them might still be in Foundry's Mediaeval line.

I mixed mine with Black Tree Design 'Men of Averaign', they match perfectly and BTD is having a big sale right now – of course there have been some issues with deliveries from BTD but I have generally ahd good luck with them.

I think he's already bought them.

I have a few of those old Bretonnians, circa 3rd and 4th editions, and they are definitely smaller and more HYW than the current "Ivanhoe on steroids" Brets.

Hey there!

I used Essex miniatures with my Brettonian minis back in those says and they mixed perfectly…

I would sure love to get more of the older Brets, been re collecting them for the last few years, every once in a while I will catch them at a decent price – some times the pricing is very silly ($10 plus dollars) for one guy!

Thanks for the information about the BTD minis, I have been looking at these:

Does anyone know how these stack up to GWs line, I would like to get about 2 units of 20 or so, for $35.60 USD I can get 30 guys!

If you can identify the specific figures you have from the Stuff of Legends Citadel catalogs, I can tell you what they'll match.

For example:

There were a couple of different sizes of GW Bretonnians sculpted by the Perrys. It does make a difference which ones they are. If you say the OG are smaller, I suspect I know which ones you have, but it's better to be sure.

Actually, those are the only ones--if you have what I'm thinking--that SoL shows online. They don't illustrate the later catalogues. Those two pages show the Perry Bretonnians based on HYW protoypes, and they're pretty much all on the small side.

If nothing else, post the link to the auction where you got them!

Sorry Allen, I meaned to get back soon…
Bloody Hell! Nice going!
Yes the foot knights are the same ones I pick up on Ebay!
These are alot bigger than Old Glory figures ( adult to children in size comparison!)
and go well with the later plastic Bretonnian bowmen who make the best looking and Cheap English Archers for the period except maybe mtd Archers)
In all seriousness if i could afford to go all OOP GW minis I would! But they are Super Exspensive to collect and bidding i have noticed for them is outrageous! ( +15.00 pounds for a mtd Knight!)
So seeing BTW's range which look wonderful are ask they good match for BTW?

Warlord29 Aug 2009 9:41 a.m. PST

What is "BTW's "

Griefbringer29 Aug 2009 1:04 p.m. PST

BTW = By The Way.

BTW = Black Tree Design (or Black Tree Delay, according to some).

Warlord29 Aug 2009 2:55 p.m. PST

O.K.

I can see – BTW = By The Way

But how do you get – BTW = Black Tree Design??

Maybe it is – BTW = "Black Tree Wesign" evil grin

Cheers Tom

I thought that was what you meant, but was not sure…

I too would like to see the two (BTW and the older GW) side by side! I picked up some from a Con last year for a buck each – man I wish they had more!!
