Has anybody had any recent dealings with this firm?.

I ordered a chunk of stuff from them a month ago and have heard nothing despite 3 emails to them.

I heard that they had moved premises but wonder whther they are still in existence.

Plynkes27 Aug 2009 2:29 p.m. PST

Definitely still in existence. The musketeer chap was showing off some new figures just yesterday on the LAF:

link

You could try joining up and PMing him there, if emails aren't getting through.

Mainly28s27 Aug 2009 2:53 p.m. PST

Bill has just relocated, and has intermittent e-mail access. He's in the process of getting new premises, and has stated that normal service should resume very soon. Drop him another e-mail, and give him a few days more to get back to you.

Not real recent, but I found it seemed to take quite a while to get my stuff, but maybe because he had to make them, as it was a fair size order in my opinion. Everything worked out good in the end.

cherrypicker27 Aug 2009 4:06 p.m. PST

Bill is a great lad, just drop him an email he will get back to you.

Thanks everyone for the info.

I'll send another email and let you know if anything happens.

harbaugh8728 Aug 2009 4:01 a.m. PST

I placed an order two months ago, I have sent FOUR seperate e-mails about a week apart, and I have gotten no response. I am getting very peeved.

note from the MM website

You may have noticed that the website and forum has been rather quiet over the past weeks, if not past 2 months. This mainly boils down to the following reasons; Hazel and myself have split up and I have now relocated myself to Manchester 200 miles away.
I hope you will understand if my eye has been a little off the ball lately, but I have hopefully found an industrial unit so I can relocate Musketeers production in the next week or two, which will help get mail order back out in a timely fashion, which I confess it hasn't been. Thank you to all the people who have contacted me with messages of support during this time. Myself and Hazel remain good friends and I know she will miss you all at the shows.

Onwards and upwards though and I have started pushing the putty again with 6-7 new packs for my own ranges and more new stuff coming from Paul to add to his WW1 and Interwar periods.

and

Things are slowly starting to get back on track here at Musketeer after the recent move. Still no permanent Internet connection though so sorry for the lack of comms at the moment if you have been trying to get hold of me. Hopefully I'll be moving into a new industrial unit soon so production and mail order will be back to normal. More info can be read in the August Update on the forum.

not sure if I can add anymore except to say i've spoken to Bill and he is working his way through the back orders and hopefully will catch up soon

spacehulker12 Sep 2009 1:33 p.m. PST

Wondering how things are going, has he a new place? has he the internet? Nothing has changed on his website, have people got their backorders?

I want to order some stuff, but am very cautious at moment

Stuart at Great Escape Games12 Sep 2009 4:52 p.m. PST

I spoke to Bill today and he's very nearly sorted.

Rob UK12 Sep 2009 7:43 p.m. PST

He has always been a reliable bloke to deal with. He will be at Colours this weekend so maybe someone could ask him how things are going.

I can't get to Colours this year and am sulking :-(

hussarbob1746.webs.com

spacehulker16 Sep 2009 11:30 a.m. PST

Anyone at colours, bump into him?? How things are going?

spacehulker20 Sep 2009 10:04 a.m. PST

Any ideas?? no answer to any email

Chieftain20 Sep 2009 4:03 p.m. PST

Ah hell, I'll answer for Bill if nobody else will.

All is going to plan, and expect normal service to resume presently.

There's nothing to worry about – your orders may take a little longer to get out, but there's certainly never any question of Bill's integrity.

harbaugh8727 Sep 2009 7:34 p.m. PST

Well, today marks THREE MONTHS since I placed my order. I have sent countless e-mails inquiring about my order and they have ALL gone unanswered. I understand that he has personal issues, but we ALL have personal issues – not tending to your business or customers is inexcusable despite personal issues. I have been more than patient, but this is ridiculous. I hope to get my miniatures, but I can say I will never order from him again. Reiver will get my business as they actually answer e-mails and send your orders out promptly.

spacehulker28 Sep 2009 11:38 a.m. PST

Your not alone, on another forum a guy has been waiting since June, and not had a reply to any emails.

Going to empress for my figures,i live in manchester, and it aint that hard to get internet access, regardless of whom you are with.Certainly not how long it appears to be.

Pity lovely looking figures by a great sculptor.

General Humbert01 Oct 2009 11:35 a.m. PST

Has anybody heard from Musketeer Miniatures recently?
I have sent several emails about an order placed 6 weeks ago and got no answer. Not even an acknowledgement of my order.
I don't mind waiting but I'm getting a bit worried.

harbaugh8701 Oct 2009 8:20 p.m. PST

Three months and counting for my order. Sent over 8 e-mails with no response whatsoever…

spacehulker01 Oct 2009 11:18 p.m. PST

He is 'supposed' to be attending the Derby show, according to Traders list, so will see if anyone sees him there.

harbaugh8702 Oct 2009 4:05 p.m. PST

I would hope someone would ask him if/when he plans on checking his e-mails and tending to his orders, and then report it here. I am so glad he is able to attend all of these shows and make money while those of us across the ocean are screwed up the arse.

RollinSixes03 Oct 2009 5:33 a.m. PST

To be fair no-one has actually said they've seen Musketeer Miniatures at any shows – spacehulker didnt get a reply to his enquiry about the Colours show .
Just because a name is on list of traders doesnt mean they actually turned up.
I have placed an order with Musketeer for some figures and am waiting for a reply to emails Ive sent .
Wondering whats happening ? Yes
Making comments about someones personal and professional integrity ? No
If someone does say they've seen him trading at a show -then I will start calling him all sorts of names.

spacehulker03 Oct 2009 5:42 a.m. PST

RollinSixes, start calling, He was at colours, and selling stuff. So he is still in business.

RollinSixes03 Oct 2009 6:14 a.m. PST

Thanks spacehulker.

harbaugh8703 Oct 2009 8:17 a.m. PST

I already knew that he had been to at least two conventions since I placed my order, which just adds fuel to the fire as to why I have not received my order or any e-mails answering me as to where my order might be.

RollinSixes03 Oct 2009 9:10 a.m. PST

harbaugh87

Hope it didnt sound like I was starting an arguement with you there .
As I said I didnt know if anyone had actually seen Musketeer Miniatures at a show ( for I knew they could have just shut up shop ).
I agree – it is very " annoying " when you are lift in limbo ( and cannot actually get to a show to see them in person ).
I would imagine they or someone they know can access TMP and get a message out explaining the company's current status .

harbaugh8703 Oct 2009 4:31 p.m. PST

RollinSixes,

No problem – I was not in the least upset with you. Just want my minis! :)

RollinSixes04 Oct 2009 5:49 a.m. PST

Me Too : )

General Humbert04 Oct 2009 10:59 a.m. PST

Me too :)
I have sent another email yesterday to Musketeer Miniatures. And I think I shall send them an old-fashioned letter tomorrow.
I still don't understand why they don't answer.
It is not that difficult to explain that, for one or another reason, an order has been delayed.
Wait and see.

MikeHobbs05 Oct 2009 5:57 a.m. PST

Hi all

I just spoken to Bill and he is hoping to catch up on his mail order by the end of the week

here's is the sit-rep so far

he's moved to Manchester but his casting machine and other tools are still in South Wales, so this makes getting his figures cast up a really problem, he has no car now so has to borrow one to get to his old house to do any casting

he was going for a unit close to his new home but this fell through last week which means he has to find another one

once he has the unit he has to arrange for the casting machine and everything else to be transported up to its new home

as for Broadband, he is living in a rented house which had no phone line and as he has very little money he was forced to go for one of those cheap internet deals where they put in the line and everything, this has taken a long time and he is still without internet access.

now Bill is a good guy who cares about his company and is doing what he can to keep it going and I know you are all rightfully p--d off with him, but he is doing everything in his power to:-

a) keep a roof over his and his son's head
b) keep Musketeer running

he has done a few shows and that has enabled him to at least travel down to South Wales to get some casting done and he thinks he is now nearly up to date

@ General Humbert, RollinSixes, harbaugh87 and anyone else

if you want a proper update PM me with your full names and order number so I can raise them with Bill

harbaugh87 I asked you to do this in August on another forum and you didn't bother so I have unable to chase your order

BTW before anyone asks I not a member of Staff at MM I am just a good mate of Bills

Cheers

Mike

General Humbert05 Oct 2009 7:58 a.m. PST

Thank you, Mike, for answering on behalf of Bill.
I really hope that he will get out of all these troubles as soon as possible.
I perfectly understand that taking care of his son comes before every thing.
And, personnaly, I never doubted that he is a very good guy. The only worry was being left without any news.
So thank you again and best wishes to Bill.

RollinSixes05 Oct 2009 11:57 a.m. PST

Thanks for the help Mike.
I will PM you with my details.

MikeHobbs05 Oct 2009 12:26 p.m. PST

if anyone wants to PM me either do it here (I think you have to be a supporting member to do that) or on Bills forum link my user name on there is MikeH

RollinSixes05 Oct 2009 1:08 p.m. PST

Need to set myself up as a supporting member here so will PM you here asap.

Also I wish to apologise for my comment about calling Bill " names " for attending shows.

With hindsight it was a foolish thing to have written as it
( unintentionally ) called into question his honesty and integrity .

harbaugh8705 Oct 2009 4:03 p.m. PST

I don't classify expressing my concern about waiting on an order for over three months with no responses to numerous e-mails questioning someone's integrity. The fact that so many said that Bill is reliable meant that I didn't report him to Paypal and try to get my money back through a dispute. I have been in love with Musketeer GNW minis for a while and after finally having the extra money to place my first order, imagine my disappointment. Again, I am sorry for his personal problems, but those are not my problems. Musketeer Mike – I don't recall getting advice from you to send you a PM, or I would have. I'll get a PM to you momentarily. Thanks.

Altius06 Oct 2009 10:23 a.m. PST

I placed an order about a month ago. Not really in a rush to get the items, but I decided to check in here to see if there were any updates. Here are my two cents.

We are patrons of what is largely a cottage industry, gentlemen. A large company with a full staff, the latest equipment, good facilities, and integrated systems can be expected to run in a reasonably efficient way (although even among them mistakes, delays, and bad decisions occur). A very small operation run by one or two people is extremely vulnerable to a much wider range of mishaps, and even an issue in the owner's personal life can be highly disruptive to that operation, whether it's an illness, loss of a job, or family problems. For that reason, I tend to be a bit more forgiving of small business owners.

I wish Bill the best and hope he gets through this difficult time. Family should be the most important matter in any person's life. I guess I'll see my order when I see it, no rush. Mike, I thought you did a pretty good job of explaining the situation, and I'll drop you a PM about an update.

Thanks.

General Humbert09 Oct 2009 9:10 a.m. PST

Mike did a great job.
And I think that Bill is doing everything he can, considering the circumstances.
As far as I am concerned, I contacted Mike who, immediately and very kindly, phoned Bill. Mike told me that my order would be posted before the end of the week and it was done.
So I don't see any reason to complain.
And I would like to thank again Mike for his help and say that I sincerely hope that Bill will soon get through this very, very troubled times.
And I shall keep buying from him without any misgiving.

BrianH23 Apr 2010 7:17 p.m. PST

I placed an order with Musketeer 4 weeks ago and have sent 2 e-mail to see what is going on. To date I have had no reply. It would seem Bill's lack of reliability is an ongoing issue.

richred uk24 Apr 2010 1:13 p.m. PST

Try giving Bill a call if possible after the weekend (he was at Salute today). I emailed a pre-order 8/4 for Salute and got a reply straight away.

I did have a problem with clicking a link somewhere (possibly musketeer's website) that sent the email to "enquires" rather than "enquiries" @musketeer-miniatures.com, but the "enquiries" address got a reply straight away, so check the address that you've been sending to, that might be the issue.

From the front page of the Musketeer site:

I've discovered that there may be a problem with our email settings which means if you have sent a message via the website contact page it may not have got through to me. Not sure how long it has been like this but we are looking into it today. If you do have a query then email direct to bill@musketeer-miniatures.com

Worth a shot.

BrianH24 Apr 2010 8:54 p.m. PST

Thanks I will try bill's e-mail.

MikeHobbs27 Apr 2010 1:43 a.m. PST

@richred uk

well spotted mate

I've been trying to work out why emails off the site haven't been arriving in Bills mailbox for ages and it looks like it was a typo

As I created the site, I have to take full responsibility for this and can only apologise to everyone who sent mails off the site.

I have however fixed the problem and tested that mail sent from the site does now arrive in Bills mail box

so hopefully all will back to normal now

thanks

Mike

I wish Bill all the best, I can only imagine how tough it is to have your personal life sent into upheaval and still try to carry on a "cottage industry". FWIW, I placed my first order with MM last fall, unaware of this discussion thread at the time, and while I did have to wait two or three months for my figures to arrive, they did do so and included a couple of freebies along with a note of apology for the tardiness. I do love the figures available from Musketeer -- many unique models -- and I want this company to succeed and prosper so I can come back for more! Hang in there, Bill.

BrianH03 May 2010 7:18 a.m. PST

I tried the new e-mail address but still no reply from Bill. It is now about 5 weeks since I placed my order, no figures and no e-mail reply. I needed the figures for a convention game on 23 May. Taking into account painting time they will have to arrive very soon or it will be pointless. I will give it another few days then initiate a Pay Pal claim. This is very disappointing.

Porthos22 May 2010 2:21 p.m. PST

piper 909, I also had to wait far too long for normal service. However, the response to ME was only a short "sorry" and definitely no freebies (which, to be clear, I would not like because of the freebies, but because they trúly show that the "guilty party" regretted the way things went). Apart from this one line I did not receive an answer on my (friendly !) extensive mail. Bill only behaved as an arrogant p…k and I do hope the figures (made by Paul Hicks) will as soon as possible be obtainable through another firm. Since Musketeer (I assume) has lost BrianH as another originally good willing customer that day hopefully has come closer. I love the figures but I will not buy anything from Thornhill.
