Mirosav27 Aug 2009 10:41 a.m. PST

Glad you're getting better Rudy! Sounds like a great convention.

Florida Tory27 Aug 2009 10:47 a.m. PST

You always make the conventions for me Rudy, will be good to see you again!

Marc

Rudysnelson27 Aug 2009 12:49 p.m. PST

Thanks guys. You really do not realize how close the gaming community is until something like this happens. We may sometimes not agree with each otehr all the time as can be seen on the TMP thread debates but we are all great freinds.

Red Martian27 Aug 2009 3:05 p.m. PST

Rudy,

I think we are all in agreement that you are a FIRST CLASS guy and a great friend.

We are going to have a great show and it will be a pleasure having you with us. It wouldn't be the same without you.

Marty

One of these days I will have to get to a con down south just to see Rudy again. I have fond memories of cons in Tampa and Rudy running games.

SgtGuinness27 Aug 2009 7:59 p.m. PST

Hurricon & Rudy, how can you beat that. I couldn't even begin to count all the books in my collection that I got from Rudy! I'm really glad your feeling good enough to travel and work.

Cheers,

JB

KnightTemplarr27 Aug 2009 10:49 p.m. PST

Rudy is a great guy. He is also really a pretty instrumental guy in how this hobby has grown.

when you look at the rules he has published and the research he has done wargamming needs more Rudys.

This is a great family friendly con. where else can you game, have a pirate ship pool for kids, and have an ocean side bar.

Red Martian28 Aug 2009 5:17 a.m. PST

And great support from vendors and manufacturers as well!

For example Thoroughbred Minitures is sponsoring three Ironclads games. They are planning to send a couple of hundred dollars worth of product for the winners on each side.

We currently have 19 vendors signed up for the show and may squeeze in a couple more. (Where I have no idea!)

The list can be viewed at:

ACWBill28 Aug 2009 5:23 a.m. PST

Welcome back Rudy! It will be good to see you at the con once again.

HRGWORLDS28 Aug 2009 5:02 p.m. PST

I had a great time attending last year's Hurricon in Orlando. This year is looking like even better. How can you go wrong with Beach, Bombs and Bullets! I will be running a Panzer Korps game as well as a Corps Command Napoleonic Russian vs. Turk game.

It looks like there are over 110 games on the schedule already so it will be a hoot!

Manny

SgtGuinness29 Aug 2009 11:57 a.m. PST

Manny,

Well you can add to that total as I've added another "The Sword And The Flame" colonial game to the list!

It was a pleasure to meet you last time. I'm hoping to get into one of your games at Hurricon 09. We're very pleased you've decided to come back down.

Cheers,

JB

Red Martian30 Aug 2009 9:27 a.m. PST

The See Krieg Admiralty added their games and we are now sitting at 128 game/event sessions.

Keep them rolling in folks!

Bring your friends, bring your kids, bring your S.O. and let them bronze on the beach or by the pool bar while you game in the hotel!

mullah phil31 Aug 2009 12:35 p.m. PST

My son and I will be running a 20mm version of Deathrace, sponsored by Stan Johansen Miniatures.

28mmMan31 Aug 2009 3:00 p.m. PST

Marty,

Did you contact the local military morale offices to let them post your convention flyers on the Air Force base, NASA operations, and the Coast Guard base?

As well as the IPMS chapter there…I am sure they would bring their wares for a model showing if you offered a table…there were 75+ members last time I checked. ipmsspacecoast.com

Red Martian01 Sep 2009 9:39 a.m. PST

I tried that route with the MWR Manager at the Naval Weapons Station (my customer) for our last show but nothing happened. They were supposed to send a mass email with the power point slides I gave them. The sailors I talked to said they never got anything.

I'll have to try again I guess.

Thanks for the point at the model group. Potential of overlap there. I've been joining and posting on several large yahoo groups as well.

Red Martian03 Sep 2009 4:02 p.m. PST

Sent emails with our weblink and basic info to 18 Yahoo Group owners from all around Florida today. I even found a couple groups in my area I never knew existed.

Hopefully we can drag in enough players for all these games (130) and vendors (20) that we have.

Do your part to help!

Master Caster03 Sep 2009 6:18 p.m. PST

Dale Marcum is running several 1/600 scale Ironclad games which we are backing with prizes. The total will not be as high as the hundreds of dollars worth as reported earlier on this thread, but the overall donation will be substantial.
Enjoy!
Toby Barrett, Thoroughbred Figures

28mmMan03 Sep 2009 10:41 p.m. PST

The BANG! email is something of a no no with military in general, especially for something like this.

That said, I was a morale officer for most of my units over the 21yrs I was active duty. The direction you will want to go with is to contact the larger rec center managers…they have the classic bulletin board and can get your message out.

I will try to track down a few phone numbers and see if there are any gamer clubs at the base(s).

Going to be another great one! Sooooooo looking forward to your and Nick's Sword and the Flame game Jeff. Yours are always as much an exerience as they are a game and I mean that as the highest compliment.

Red Martian16 Sep 2009 12:17 p.m. PST

Lost one.

The 9th Zone has cancelled their trip from Iowa to Hurricon due to expenses incurred in a recent relocation of their brick and mortar store. They hope to join us again in Cocoa Beach for Recon 2010.

Gained one.

Lou Coniglio contacted us late last week wanting space we did not have available. Now we do! So it looks like Battlestandard Miniatures link will be joining us. Those interested in his wares might want to visit his website or shoot Lou an email as we were only able to provide him one table limiting his display capability. It probably would help him in his packing decisions if you let him know what you are looking for ahead of time.
