TMP's (in)famous Howard Whitehouse aka Mexican Jack Squint is preparing the way for our forthcoming 28mm hard plastic Vikings release with a FREE set of skirmish rules. The rules are available as a PDF for download here: link Have a go! Thanks again, Tony Tony Reidy Wargames Factory wargamesfactory.com |

Oh, thank God! I thought I'd been DH'd within the last hour for something! (I was quite rude about someone on TMP last night, but it was well deserved). |

The rules are called "Battle-Troll", by the way. This is the most recent version – I've done several revisions over the years. |

Howard, those look interesting and I have the Conte 54mm Vikings and Normans I have been wanting to game with. Thanks. |

Fun-looking set of rules- definitely keeping'em around for reference, and I may pilfer an idea or three to incorporate into my private game of Age of Blood 2 (another great, free Viking ruleset). Naturally, I'm looking to get a pack of Vikings (and a pack of Celts, & likely yhe Ancient Germans, all for mix-and-match. Obviously, I'm a stickler for strict authenticity. At least until I find some suitable trolls and dark elves and knockers and so forth
) Yet again, ace job, you guys. - Monk |

Can someone give us a quick synopsis of the rules, I'm not sure I want to invest in them site unseen! Donald~

Uh, they're a FREE download. Just check the site. They look kind of cool. |

Yes, Howard, I started forming a raiding party when I first read the post title, but now we've decided to drink meade and cut the pigtails off serving wenches with axes at 30 paces in your honor. Ummm, excuse me a moment
. (OSHA? They called OSHA?) Well, we're still drinking meade, but the axe thing is right out, seems our health plan doesn't cover it. |

I thought I'd been DH'd within the last hour for something! Well, the OFM did put in a request for "someone to keep him company," and your name did come up, until we received a follow-up note that said, "I don't want to play wargames, you dolts! I need someone to 'keep me company!!!" and Murphy sent his cousin instead. Not sure that worked out well, though

I wrote these some years ago as a sort of 'wild west' viking game, based on the feuds, fights, bitter rivalries and sheer mayhem of the Icelandic sagas. It is not so much 'historically accurate' as 'literarily accurate'. There's as much emphasis on saying witty things to put down your opponent (and getting remembered after your sure-to-be-soon death) as on wargamy details. I've just redone the scenario volume to go with it, "The Raven's Tale". Hopefully Tony can put that up as well. |

You can dodge the OSHA problem by TRAINING the serving wenches
just make sure they sign the training docs and you're set
heh heh. Can't wait for the Vikings so I can begin my raids on the coast of England!! |

Mention is made of 'especially simple rules' but I couldn't find them. Also suggested reputation scores is missing despite a note to self to include them. Otherwise spiffing. |

Hey Matakishi – thanks for noticing a couple of omissions. I found the 'note to self' on page 8 (and will have to go back to find out what I had in mind, if anything). Where is the reference to 'especially simple rules'? I wonder what I meant. I should probably lose my address from 1998, as well. I've moved twice since then. |

Thanks! I think I meant the stuff on page 17. I also began to write a more 'shieldwall' oriented section of combat, but I have no idea what happened to that. I was writing the whole thing on my lunchtimes at a job I particularly hated, and my employers got mean and nasty since they thought I was somehow using their equipment for unauthorized purposes (as if typing on a beat-up PC and using .0000001% of its memory was like photocopying my buttocks 3000 times) Anyway, I left that job but didn't manage to retrieve that document. |

I have been searching – well, not too hard – for 'The Raven's Tale' for years. Please put then on line somewhere. |

Wait a few days and they'll be up on the Wargames Factory site. I just made some revisions to 'The Raven's Tale' yesterday. |

Nice little set ofrules. Though perhaps hauntingly familiar to the Chainmail Bikini design group. :) |

Chainmail Bikini is for adolescent degenerates!!! These are SERIOUS simulations of Viking epics with their Gods!!! What's wrong with you?!?!?! ;-) |
