For those of us who are blocked at work, could you tell us what the book is?

NoLongerAMember26 Aug 2009 6:56 a.m. PST

We, that is 18thcenturypress.com, have secured the rights to re-print Niemeyer/Ortenburg's "The Hanoverian Army during the Seven Years War".

from the blog page.

That's a good choice Nigel. BTW, you continue to eviscerate the resale value of my collection of books on the 18th century with your reprints. Oh well, all in a good cause. evil grin

I agree with DAF that this is a great choice. Any SYW fan, or any fan of uniforms in general, should own it. Unfortunately, I won't be buying a copy since I already have one, but I'm glad to see this, anyway.

How about redoing Duffy "The Wild Goose and the Eagle" at some stage in the future. I had some problems getting this one a few years back and had to get the German edition first.

seamusbradley26 Aug 2009 2:09 p.m. PST

Caliver are looking to re-issue Duffy's "The Wild Goose and the Eagle" at about £35.00 GBP Can't find my copy of the announcement by I'm sure they'll confirm Regards

Duffy's "Russia's Military Way to the West" would be another good candidate for a reprint.

clibinarium28 Aug 2009 9:07 a.m. PST

Seconded on "Russia's Military Way to the West".

I never did get hold of Duffy's "Wild Goose….."! Wish I still had my 18th Century collection of books but I do still have "Russia's Military Way….."

Nigil stated some more subscribers would help this effort. If you have any friends who might be interested now's the time to point them to 18th Century Press. Thanks.

For de Ligne --

What is "The Hanoverian Army" about? Military history, organization, or uniforms? Does it include the Hessians and other German allies, and the British contingents?

Would it be possible to post the table of contents on your website?

Thanks!

Graf Bretlach04 Nov 2009 4:42 p.m. PST

PS
The Pengel & Hurt book covering the Hanoverians is based mostly on this book.

The Wild Goose And The Eagle is being reprinted--I've pre-ordered mine already. (Although it's supposed to have been ready for September but I haven't yet received mine.)

And I'm interested in the Hanoverian book too.
