Now this is really a good way to check out miniatures online:

Front Rank takes the whole issue of manufacturers putting pics of their figires onto their websites to a new level!

Course, bandwidth being what it is, this is really only possible for special models. But, knowing the speed of technology, lets see what is happening a dozen years or so …

What a great idea.. colour me impressed!

TheMasterworkGuild26 Aug 2009 2:27 a.m. PST

Excellent!

I doubt bandwidth is a problem for that… taking all the pictures might be!

All thats needed now is to add a virtual ruler or scale.

Also thats a great painting reference/guide! They could have a colour palette with the colours used being links to an online shop selling the paints…

amazing !!

paulkit26 Aug 2009 2:48 a.m. PST

Dead impressive I agree. I'm breaking out in a cold sweat just thinking about it.

So now I want one – see what good marketing can do.

Oh *miniatures* – that title was so promising…. ;-) On-topic, yep, that sure is pretty. Had a quick look and it's quite an expensive service, but might be worth it to showcase a few pieces, as the effect is definitely impressive….

Raises the bar on posting pictures in blogs also.

Plynkes26 Aug 2009 4:04 a.m. PST

If you can spin it about, why not move it around on a 3D photo of a tabletop, too?

That way only one of us would have to build and paint all the stuff, and everyone else could play with it.

MacrossMartin26 Aug 2009 4:09 a.m. PST

I like Plynkes idea, but yes, that's a neat way to show off a mini.

Arrrghhhh…Money burning hole in pocket now! Will these companies never stop torturing me?

Excellent. I was always impressed with their figures from the beginning. Interested now in SYW/Jacobite period, would like to see more of the same.

Mainly28s26 Aug 2009 5:33 a.m. PST

Museum Miniatures has been doing something similar with their Samurai range for quite a while now.

Nice pic, but the period leaves me cold.

Vis Bellica26 Aug 2009 6:16 a.m. PST

This is the way forward: would certainly get me spending.

wrgmr126 Aug 2009 9:01 a.m. PST

I still think Front rank are the best Napoleonics!

Cerdic26 Aug 2009 9:09 a.m. PST

Wowwww!

That is impressive. It does spin a bit too fast though.

You can spin it manually too if you want to see a particular angle – just click your mouse on the picture and drag. It's quite clever really….

Arteis26 Aug 2009 10:46 a.m. PST

I wonder if it can be turned into a screensaver?

KatieL26 Aug 2009 10:50 a.m. PST

Ow!!!

It *resized* my firefox window. Bad website!!

It's *MY* window, not yours!

RavenscraftCybernetics26 Aug 2009 4:09 p.m. PST

Prussian Glory26 Aug 2009 4:28 p.m. PST

Amazing! Some day in the not to distant future it will be in 3D as well.

There's always the Ford Agency ;)

Innovative and beautifully done, but if I see one more black horse with a white mane and tail I will go barking mad. Has everyone actually seen a horse in real life? We need to spread the word: that color scheme might be seen on a sci-fi movie, but they don't come that way here in Kentucky.

ack.

Great idea and realisation, but a torture to those among us who are more than usually acquisitive, as several have stated. A development of this could be "hour-by-hour" demonstrations of how certain actions proceeded…

I hear ya 27th! Here in Ohio only the women have blond hair with black roots.

Lovely showcase tho!
