Kallistra are definitely worth a look – a bit crude looking at first glance, but paint up well.

Acheson has some very nice stuff.

I think it's a matter of location due to the high cost of shipping resin. If in the US go Acheson, if overseas, Ironclads is probably the way to go. Both are top shelf companies.

"I think it's a matter of location due to the high cost of shipping resin."

Kallistra's Hexon II trench system (see link above) is moulded in High Impact Polystyrene, not resin, so shipping costs will be proportionately cheaper.

If you don't play a hex based system why would you have trenches that are hex based? Just asking. I like the look of them, but I don't play a lot of hex based miniature games.

Cost and weight – I'd prefer non-hex, but frankly the Kallistra ones win hands-down over resin alternatives.

Actually, turning the question around, if you don't play grid-based rules, why would you want your trenches in 6" squares…? Bottom line is a modular system has to come in some shape, so why not hex instead of square?

Dom, good point. I guess for me it's the hex shape that extends out from the trench. To me it looks like I would have to fill in the gaps between the hexes. Where as with the squared off system, the sides of the trench flow evenly into the ground.

But it's just a visual thing for me. I think both products are very well made.
