Hiya. What ideas are there for modeling aerial explosions? High explosive rocket bursts, flak, detonation of aircraft, sonic explosions, flash explosions
the sort of Crimson Sky normal stuff. I am using a two inch hex cloud map. I'd like to put these detonations at altitude on my telescoping rods. I am sure I could think up something, but if the "wheel" is already invented, why not ask? I've transposed my CS Aircraft to Luftwaffe 1946 rules: Crimson Waffe. |

Take some dark colored sponge. Make sure you start with a thick piece. Pick pieces of the sponge off. The pieces can be small in shape. If you want a spherical explosion make sure you pick the pieces off so the shape resembles a ball. You can also make the explosion more comet like with a trailing tail. Paint the sponge black. Add a little yellow and red and you have an explosion. Phil |

Use black cotton balls, and tease out wisps so it looks more like an aerial burst. And you don't even need to paint them, unless you want to add touches of yellow and red. I've seen them in craft stores, but it's easy enough to dye your own using white cotton balls and some black dye in a Ziploc plastic bag. |

I saw some nice ones on the SCN forum using lumps of expanded polystyrene with toothpicks stuck in them and then painted yellow and red. Robert |

Thanks. I'll try several of these ideas. |
