I once painted a unit of Aztec Jaguar Knights… Worse than tartan.
Did I learn? No, because then I did Zulus, winged hussars…  I uaually paint the fur a linen color. Then, I put golden Brown dots all over the place, and then outline the dots in black dots.
I would post pictures of them, but I went blind painting them, and can't find them now… |

There's a great tutorial in the Foundry Miniatures Painting and Modelling guide pp128-132. The article is entitled "Painting Animal Skins." All the other materials in the book have also been pdf published at some time so you might find this on the foundry or Andrew Taylor websites somewhere. |
