hello,
just downloaded roman/carthag. navies…
would it work if, instead of cardstock, I printed on normal paper, glued to plasticard, cut out and then assembled?
I believe the material I have is exteremely flexible
has anyone done something similar

I use cardstock, with a layer of balsa to stiffen the deck and sometimes the oars.

You could possibly use plasticard like that. I believe that someone on the yahoogroup mentioned doing something along those lines at one time. The only problem is going to come with folding some of the tabs, as sheet styrene tends to break if you force if too far, especially if you score it in any way (which is needed to get a precise fold).

I've reinforced the deck on some of my models by laminating on an extra sheet of cardstock, but really don't even do that much anymore. Once glued down to the base, the models are amazingly sturdy.

For more tips you should join the Roman Seas yahoo group.

thanks guys,I refer to my material as sheet styrene, or plasticard, but it is actually stronger, thicker and more flexible, and free..I used it before for armor skirting and orky addon armor to great effect
(its a specialty insert in a box of laser film from xray departments 14" by 17".. very useful)

well, i guess you could inquire at hospitals/imaging clinics
1 sheet comes in a box of agfa film..most places through it away..or keep it for kindergarden projects, etc
I confess to being a hobby scrounger/forager
James pm me, if you dont mind it being cut to8"by11" i could mail you a trial piece, see if you like it,first
