"Mushroom men from...OUTER SPACE!" Topic

I'm not sorry to say that I saw a Golgo Island battle report and saw some converted Mushroom men…so I had to blatantly copy the idea (using different guns and paint-scheme). Here is the end result:

I'm thinking of an ogre sized heavy weapon Mushroom man…but I've not yet found a suitable donor (I may end up sculpting one)…

(I still have to sort out the bases!).

I have started work on a giant one who will carry a heavy deathray/club weapon…

…I'd forgotten how inflexible and powdery Milliput was though (oh how putties like Green-stuff spoil us nowadays ;) ).

This is just the frame for the Green Stuff to go on but…it's a start :).

Try some cap scale details and before too much longer flip it upside down and work on the gills…looking good so far…I would use the peeling scale effect to take away from the large smooth areas.

Great looking minis. I love the idea of mushrooms with guns. Wonder if I can do some in 15mm? Borrowed ideas are not bad as long as you give credit. We're all a big community and inspiration is one of the reasons I cruise blogs and forums and keep my own blog going.

Leland, I gotta ask, are you still converting and modelling? The stuff on Metal Express is great.

What weapon have you picked out?

He will have a rifle weapon that doubles as a club. The weapon will generate a power field that can be condensed into a lightning blast or just be used like a shock maul.

Well, the big guy got finished:

…but I haven't added any further putty to them for ages. They are still there but a bit on the back-burner because I had a massive problem sculpting a while back and I am currently trying to get back up to speed.

Ohhhh, I love these mushroom men! Brilliant! I could imagine a game where the intrepid heroes have to traverse a whole field of giant mushrooms, only to find that some of them are armed and dangerous…

Hot butter projectors to the right flank! Veg-a-Matic team, form on that corner of the prep table! Sparks, call the para-sous-chefs to have their drop prevent the "Fun-Guys" (Fungi's)from escaping the MWS (maneuverable wok system).

Then call battalion hq and tell them to expect hot chow tonight!

In a word: Awesome.

Very nice. Inspirational, too – I have an absolute pile of Khuarsan's 15mm mushroom men on the painting desk awaiting attention.

I finished the shaman today and have started to paint it…
