Message says it all. The rules are currently popular w/ the Napoleonic crowd in my club; wondered if the SYW form felt like 18th Century. Oggie |

Yes. We put on Lobositz and Kolin with it, with most if not all units represented. Overall I love the set. I'm not really crazy about how cavalry works, but the guys I game with seem to think I'm nuts about this. It's the most satisfying SYW set we've used I think. |

Well, that's good to know as I plan to use C&G for my SYW battles when I can get the French finished. Nigel |

There was a C&C Great Northern War game at Historicon and the one comment I'll always remember was someone saying how quiet each turn was. I've not tried them yet but I am interested. |

We play quite a few C&G SYW games and they give a very good result. Make sure you get the latest patch from Nigel as there was a minor issue with the battalion gun effectiveness if I recall. |

I can't speak to the SYW version of C&G (SYW is not my period), but I have used the AWI version both as a player and a GM. It gets very good reviews, especially from new players. I ran an AWI game at Historicon (Springfield 1780) for a dozen players with no problems. Many of them were new to the rules or the period. As far as the GNW version of C&G goes, I have played in those games at HMGS conventions in the past. They are always well run and well received. The Historicon game may have seemed quiet compared to other games because the GMs and players knew what they were doing. It also helps the GM input moves into the computer if you keep the idle chit chat to a minimum. |
