who has the best 25mm foritifcations for this period? I've seen some at the 'cons, but never looked too closely. I'm in the USA, so a US distributor would be nice.

Thanks!

The best fortifications of the period were of the Vauban style, which was quite rare in the England AFAIK – much more common on the continent.

From what I know, fortifications in Britain at the time tended to still be broadly medieaval, using existing castles and fortified manors (grew up near a castle that had been besieged in that period). The better prepared garrisons may well have had newly dug earthworks and bastions (Donnington would be a good example link There are a couple of examples of more modern defences that were put to the test, like Pendennis Castle in Cornwall and Berwick on Tweed (most put in place in the Elizabethan period).

So ideally you'd be looking for someone who makes good earthworks. If I can find anything I'll let you know (no doubt others will beat me too it though :-) )

Much of the military architecture that was fought over dated from an earlier period, so suitable castle walls etc from any number of suppliers. The star fort or sconce was well known although most in Britain tended to be earthen structures rather than brick or masonry. A lot of this type of fortification were built during the war. Bellona used to make a vac-formed one mny years ago but I doubt it's still available. I'm in a similar quandry, I suspect I'll end up scratchbuilding one.

Magister Millitum make a masonry star fort but it's probably a little late. They do however make a couple of renaissance artillery towers that would work for Henrican fortifications, these were still in use, particularly on the south east coast. If you are planning on making a star fort or Henrican style fort try this site for some good photos plans and inspiration:
