WW2 naval gamers using 1/1200 and 1/1250 moels may like to know about five new models from Clydeside. They have released a "Bathurst" class mindsweeper, two RN "Insect" class gunboats (WW2 Mediterranean arrangements) and the Yangtse gunboats HMS Sandpiper and USS San Pablo (from the film). They retail for between GBP 4 and GBP 4.80. I picked up one of each from Dreadnought Models at the Gosport model ship show last week. The detail on these models is excellent – fully up to the standard set by the Hallmark 1/1250 coastal forces models with which they match perfectly. I'm led to believe that there will be additional variants of the Insect class (going back to their original WW1 appearance) and the Bathurst coming out in due course.

I haven't bought from Clydeside since the mid 80s. In fact I didn't even know the company still existed!

This post rekindled my enthusiasm so I went to look at their website clydeside-flotilla.com and was very disappointed. The range is tiny and the new models David mentions do not even appear. Or Am I missing something?
