This board's been quiet lately. I thought that with the advent of rules like Combat Storm, gaming with our little plastic green soldiers will experience a second silver age. Has gaming with army men died down? Any galleries out there of games or of collections? |

Last battle I had with them was outdoors, using rocks as weaponry, and fired by the well-trained, and reliable right arm launcher. Great fun! Hard to hit those troops who are dug in, in trenches and foxholes. We put extra sand over the bases of those, and their lower profile makes them more difficult targets. Bombing run sorties are occasionally flown, using the plastic aircraft, and dropping a number of rocks from about 5 feet in height, while walking at a brisk pace. Slowing down to engage the target is not permitted, due to possible SAM missile fire (haven't modeled that yet). Don't forget to account for inertia. For artillery rounds, we use sticks, although I imagine water balloons could be useful as well. Dirt clods too, but where we played, the supply of those was rather limited/non-existant. Recommended!!! For even more fun, I imagine air-soft guns could be used as well, but we haven't done that yet. |

Didn't look like the first two postings went through, so sorry for the multiple deletions. |

A 6mm bb can put your eye out fast
just be careful and smart if you go airsoft. 200 FPS or so springers and goggles if you can go that route. Clonecommander and I run the Combat Storm Yahoo group. Its been quiet as Clonecommander has been working non-stop as of late
but there is some good information on the group. |

I am running a long term story about the Cold War using 60mm Army Men from MPC, Tim Mee and others. Atomic Testing Base is the title of the story. It will have some new episodes soon. Mike "Bunkermeister" Creek bunkermeister.blogspot.com |

Most of the gaming I've done lately is with BMC ACW figs and my 4yo! |

Sure. Why not. 54mm is a great "skirmish" scale. There are so many to choose from now between old Marx playsets, Barszo playsets and figures, Conte playsets and figures, "Armies in Plastic", old and re-issued Airfix figures, and many others. Recently, while reading "War On The Run" about Rogers Rangers, I set up my Barszo Rogers rangers figures and recreated a skirmish. There's a "Custer's last Stand" playset coming out from Toy Soldiers San Diego this month that looks terrific with some of the most beautiful Indian sculpts I've ever seen in 54mm! I think it's gonna be a merry Christmas. (-: |

We game WWII, Westerns, and ACW in 54mm. Though lately our attention has been on 28mm fantasy, we will eventually get back around to it. That's just how it goes when you have dozens of games and limited time. |
