Pathfinder minis were being produced by Crocodile games. My guess is they weren't making minis fast enough for Paizo.

I quite liked the iconic minis, but I guess Paizo expects at least one a month.

I got the same e-mail last night. I liked the figures, but I don't plan on playing Pathfinder – and I have more than enough generic fantasy miniatures awaiting paint.

Reaper makes good and fair price figures.

ON a related note, if Pathfinder gets bigger than D&D can they pull the open contract?

ON a related note, if Pathfinder gets bigger than D&D can they pull the open contract?

I don't think so, since I think the contract was in-perpetuity, and would be hard to enforce even if they did, seeing how it has been posted for free on the internet for the last 9 years. But assuming they were able to do so, it would probably eliminate a lot of the fan good-will WotC has remaining…

Damon.

Do you mean the OGL?

I don't think WotC can legally touch them as long as Paizo doesn't break the licence in any way.

Good – the Croc can go back to making Aegyptus, etc. figures!

Farstar13 Aug 2009 2:31 p.m. PST

There is a worrysome clause in the OGL regarding WotC's control over those who use the OGL, but the OGL itself has no conditions for its own termination. That was a conscious decision by the OGL developers and the WotC of nine years ago.

That the WotC of today is not the same company in any way other than being the holders of D&D and MtG is one of the contingency reasons the OGL was written that way.

Croc made some good figures for this line. I look forward to seeing what Reaper does with it. I am planning on buying the Pathfinder Core book when it comes out. We are still happily playing D&D 3.5, and I am curious to see the Pathfinder revisions. We'll cherry-pick what we like, and not worry about the rest.

Actually, It was that they weren't great sellers, so Croc sold the rights back to Paizo.

I've got no interest in Pathfinder… but if it means more cool minis from Reaper then it's good news.
I hope it won't slow down their production on the Chronoscope stuff… or otherwise cut down on the quirky stuff I like from them (I could do with a few less bland warrior/wizard figures though).

I would give a pretty to know who's sculpting 'em.

Like the other Reaper lines, I imagine, different figures are sculpted by different artists.
