Do you prefer to assemble the figures yourself before sending them to a painting service, or do you prefer to pay extra to have the painting service assemble them for you?

Hmm, an interesting question. If I were to use a painting service I could see doing it both ways.

1. Assembling myself means I don't have to pay them to do so. But…it would mean there is more chance for breakage in the mail before they arrive at the painter. And I can also assemble in the poses that I want.

2. Having the painter assemble means that I just send him the spures/box of figures and don't have to sweat them breaking before they get to him.

Given that the point of the multi-part plastics is tobe able to customize poses, how would you convey the assembly instructions? Either way, I'd be hesitant to send plastics overseas.

Have them painted on the sprues, then clip assemble and touch up when you get them home if inclined to pay for this sort of thing. They'll ship a lot better and a lot safer still on the sprues.

I enjoy assembling them far more than painting them but I dont use a service.

I dont send my plastics out to be painted, only my metals. If I did, I would definitely assemble them myself!

Over the years I've sent unassembled GW Zombies and WF Colonials to Fernando, and been very happy with the results. Well posed and no damage on return. They are painting a box of WF Romans for me at the moment, they look good from the pictures I've seen so far.

I would never send plastics for painting, with the economics of it, it only make sense to have metals painted.
