There are many many threads on this issue. You need to first determine what scale (15mm / 25mm) you will game and what scale of rules (skirmish, battalion, brigade, division/corps) you will game. The best way to make this determination is to see what those close to you use. Go with the flow. mjc |

I agree with what quidveritas said with the addition of; How much money do you want to spend? 15mm = good price for a fair number of figures 28mm = fewer larger figures for the same money as 15mm After that determine what size of units you wish to play with. Then choose a ruleset. |

Well for skirmish I would recomend Song of Drums and Shakos by Ganesha Games, and you can play it with 15 , 20 or 28mm figures. Robert |

This is a good book, but a little short 35-40 minuter for a full game. Maybe another rulebook for a longer game and more miniatures
15mm or 28mm, it doent matter. |

For figures there is a very good spanish company that makes everything you'll need. You might ask them about rules as well: warmodelling.com |

To be released this autumn: LaSalle part of the upcoming Honour rules system by Sam Mustafa: link LaSalle is "petit tactical" level, but the identical basing will be used for the second release in the modular series Blucher to be released next year. I've been involved with the extensive play-testing. It's well worth the wait. |

Hi and welcome to Napoleonics. For figures 6mm – you can get everything for a good price. Baccus minis are easy to paint and look great. 10mm – Cute. 15mm – Everything available. Not too expensive. 25/28mm – Grand scale – will take you years to build up to a big game. For skirmish no problem. I'll start selling ready painted 28mm Napoleonics soon. In about 3-4 months I'll be selling ready painted 15mm Napoleonics. Sharpes practice is very popular for 28mm skirmish at the moment. The same people (too fat lardies) make a big battaliosn game called Le Sacre Feu (or sommint like that). Shako II will be very popular as it follows from the incredibly successful Shako. Fun game which does not last too long. If you like big scale games General de Brigade and In The Grand Manner are popular but complicated. Cheers Neil reinforcementsbypost.com (painting service) |

To try out a few relatively simple games at various levels, you cannot do better than but Paddy Griffith's Napoleonic Wargaming For Fun, reprinted by John Curry in his History of Wargaming Project: skirmish, brigade, division, army level and the innovative generalship game in which one moves whole corps and organises one's day all in one handy volume! Available from John Curry at link |

15/18mm, has to be AB figures, with Warmodelling (Ex Fantassin) adding a bit of variety. Tally Ho! |

Old Glory 15s are almost as good as AB but they cost a fraction of the price. You can get a 40% discount from Old Glory with an Old Glory army card @ $50. USD I'm about to put in an order for bundles of Old Glory 15mm Naps and 7YW. It is great stuff. |
