Gentlemen (and based on some user names and threads I use this term lightly),

I am interested in obtaining a set of rules that can allow for 40-figure Foot regiments and 24-figure Horse regiments (28mm). I do own FH and I am briefly acquainted with the pros and cons of this system. Suggestions?
FYI- I would like to base the foot in 4 files x 3 ranks on 3 bases (plus 4 command) if possible. Three bases for horse as well. I mention the 3 ranks for the foot because FH only allows for fire by TWO ranks max. Also, FH only goes to 30-fig reg's (max). Many thanks!

Warhammer ECW does not have a limit on unit sizes. I play WECW in both 15mm and 28mm and enjoy the rules.

Another nod for WECW. Loves big regiments.

I have just purchased the Warhammer ECW rules.
Very good rules but not for me…
I'm more interested by "Grand tactical scale" rules to refight big battles !

Would you interested to buy my book ?
I have bought it in Frisco at US$ 32.40 (30.00 + taxes).
I can send to you this new book, with a good discount.
If interested, please send me an email :

Thanks in advance,

If you wanted to go a bit "Old School", then both Gush's "Wargame Rules for the 15th to 17th Century" (WRG) and Bill Protz's "Wargamer's Guide to the English Civil War" will easily accomodate the larger units. However, at a 1:20 figure scale, in both sets of rules 1 figure represents actual men 3-4 ranks deep. For that reason, while you can base your figures any way you wish, no more than two ranks of miniatures are going to fire in any one turn.

This is actualy historically accurate as fire by countermarch (or fire by introduction as some call it) is based on an 8-rank deep formation. Now pikes can be based and fight up to 4 ranks deep, at least in Gush.

How about using double-sized units in Father Tilly?

Angus Konstam has modified The Perfect Captain's "Very Civile Actions" (which are free) and often uses 48-man units. Read his page here:

The Perfect Captain rules are linked from the above page, but are also available here:

They are certainly worth checking out.
