Does anyone know which units of the RAF were sent to Northern Russia in 1918 – 1919? I am especially interested in trying to identify the unit flying the RE8's in June 1919. |

On the Archangel front there didn't seem to be proper units but scratch forces. In Canadian in Russia 1918-1920 we read of the RAF Elope Expedition, Flight A in Obozersaya (DH4's) and Flight B at Bereznik (RE 8's, Nieuport 17's & Sopwith Strutters, the last found in crates on the Archangel docks)The headquarters was a barge on the river. of the thirty pilots and observers half were Canadian and most had little experiance in flying. |
