hi, a fairly simple one, who makes them and who's are the best?

I've got Heroics & Ros / Navwar -sturdy gaming pieces (I substitute brass wire for the struts, though), but be prepared for a good amount of filing and such during prepaint: misalignment of the two halves (molds are top-bottom) cn be a pain: the batch of Sopwith Triplanes I bought recently ended up in the wastebin they were so bad…a tad disappointing/frustrating.

They end up okay 3-footers good for a game, but certainly not models unless you're prepared to put in lots of time at the bench…

Doesn't Tumbling Dice at Dom's decals make nice ones.

Thanks,

C in C make much nicer ones in 1/285, albeit somewhat less sturdy although suitable replacement of struts etc and they will hold up.

I agree that the C-in-C models are good --but the metal is soft, and the closer-to-scale-thickness wing/tail surfaces are awfully thin and easily bent. Also, the spines/ridges they use to simulate the ribs are a PITA when it comes to painting and applying decals, imo. --dunno if that's commom…I only have three of their models.

They're a pig to rig.

In my opinion the Navwar/Heroics ones are best. they are the easiest to assemble and the most robust.
