I've check past posts, nothing much on 15mm. Was wondering if anyone makes 15mm regulars for the Afghan army of the 1870's?

If not, has anyone found suitable substitutes?

Thanks.
Oggie

This is from a recomendation I previously copied from the Yahoo Colonials group;

"The following 15mm Irregular Miniatures might help you out:

FZ90 Afghan regular infantry standing with officer
FZ92 Afghan regular cavalry
FZ93 Afghan regular artillery and 4 crew"

I have no idea of the quality of the above figures, have considered the period in 15mm in the past but have hesitated due to the range of 15mm figures available. If you purchase these or other figures for the period, post the manufacturer(s) and your thoughts on quality.

We have some Afghan figures with the long Afghan Jezail: link

Some of the figures certainly seem in keeping with these images: link

Would Peter Pig Dervishes with rifles be of use? peterpig.co.uk/range22.htm

I've bought a few Irregular figures lately (modern, mainly) and they are quite big 15s, a good head taller than Peter Pig. Don't know how the Afghans compare though.

Thanks all. I'd forgotten to check IM. I have some of their Afghan Irregulars. Tending to one pose etc. but for regulars should work.
It is a bit surprising that this theatre is not well represented for the Afghan side.

Oh, man, this cuts very close to home for me!

As a boy and young man I was slightly obsessed with the Afghan regular army of the 1860 to 1918 and at one point, since I only gamed in 15mm and no such figures were available, at least that I knew of, I customized a decent sized force of 1878-1880 Afghan regulars. I used all manner of Eastern Renaissance cavalry, and some Dervish cavalry carrying firearms and wearing scullcaps that I built up a bit, but the big solution was using Essex Zulu War British line infantry for the Afghan regular infantry. I remodeled their foreign service helmets, turning them into the "felt hat" head covering. It was a bit of work but it turned out quite well. Wish I had some pictures!

I realize this memory of mine adds little or nothing productive to the discussion and I wish you well, but if for whatever reason you don't like what's available, or find their poses too limited, go to the clippers, Exacto knives and dental probes -- this last for scratching out the irregular surface of the felt hats with!

Thanks for the jog to my brain Mad guru….I too used conversions to make Norman knights from Heritage ACW cavalry back in the late 70's. My eyes and my fingers are no longer nimble enough for those exercises now (or I'm just lazy).
