Mongolia has now embraced an even larger than life-sized Ghengis Khan:

BTW – I'm not sure staying in a felt yurt and eating horse meat is my idea of a vacation.

Hey, you probably get all the kumis, fermented horse milk, you can drink. After a while you won't notice where you are.

Saw that this morning. The other tourist center they mentioned lets visitors milk a horse. Horses being horses, I have to wonder how much that particular activity is for educational purposes versus the amusement of the caretakers.

What the picture of the statue fails to provide a lot of is scale context. Consider that it is almost three times *taller* than the 1:1 Gundam ( discussed at TMP link ). No wonder its visible from the horizon…

--Other Mongolians skew a bit more toward realpolitik in their devotion to Genghis Khan, even if they are happy to drink to his memory.

"He was a cruel man but he led our country to greatness," said Toguldur Munkochir, 25, a bank teller unwinding at the Chinggis Khaan bar later that night. "If you look at Lincoln, Hitler and Julius Caesar, it's kind of the same thing."--

Wow. Just… wow.

"Wow. Just… wow."

Sanguine bunch, Mongolians.

Gotta wonder who is writing the books that gentleman reads, though.

That would make the statue about 10-12 inches tall. Let their gift center get into proper gear and you might get a repro that size.
