Looking at the listing I have been trying to think of a way to get most of the Daimyo the Perry's do involved in a battle. Uesegi and Takeda obviously can do Kawanakajima, but thats only two models.
So for those who know this stuff (Mr Kenshin and others)how can i get as many of the represented Daimyo involved? Seems to me that most of them are actually Tokugawa allies- Date Masamune, Kato Kiyomasa, Maeda Toshinaga and Ii Naotaka as well as the set with Tokugawa himself.
Seems like an odd bunch of Daimyo to me unless there was some particular battles in mind. Sekigahara wont do becuaes there is no Ishida.
What have people used as who?

cheers

Jason

The Invasion of Korea? There are all those lovely Choson Koreans they make.

I doubt the Perrys had 'specific' battles in mind when they produced their daimyo character figures. Perhaps they just thought they looked cool? Anyway there are plenty of 'generic' daimyo in the listings.

…and it's Kenshin-sama if you want to keep your head :)

Thats what I am thinking….might buy the Osprey on the Korean invasion (lets not start the debate about Dr. Turnbull please)and have a look-
As for Kenshin-sama, only if he is a daimyo of higher rank than me other wise its plain old Kenshin-san :)

I don't have a problem with Turnbull as it goes, I have many of his books.

I guess I'm not as a big an academic snob as some :)

me either and i will always be indebted to Turnbull for the books I read as a kid which got me into the whole period…..regardless he made the period accessible for a kid in Australia……

Those Perry sculpts are great. I have the entire samurai line now. To me, it's the best 28mm line. They had fun going into various troop types, characters and civilians. Of course, I would still like more!

I've played a few near-historic samurai battles. I find the created scenario a much more interesting game. There have been many real battles that would make a good scenario, especially the entrapment conflicts that happened in rivers and valleys. The Imjin wars are great because you have naval battles, coastal and mountain fortress sieges. Plus, you can add Choson Koreans and Ming Chinese to the mix.

Any of the battles from the Ran movie:

Don't you mean the one where Godzilla stomps Edo?

That could hold some interesting possibilities…though I cringe at the thought of constructing a 28mm Godzilla.

No need. There are dozens of Godzillas out there

How about these babies?

I've got a house rules set called Sengoku that covers from 1550-1615. It also includes Korean armies for the Imjin War of 1592-98. However, its a combination of The Sword & The Flame and some other rule systems and uses lots of D12's. I plan on doing Samurai vs. Samurai and Korean vs. Samurai battles with my rules. Even though I got lots of Clan War figures, the Perry scuplts are wonderful. I'm really happy with the group of Perry samurai cavalry I recently bought. But I won't get around to painting the Japanese and Korean armies for another 14 months.

@Blake Walker: How do the Clan War minis compare to the Perry Sculpts? I am planning on getting into clan war and am looking for 25-28mm minis to use as generic troops that look good next to clan specific units.

The Perry Samurai range is indeed great. I just wish they would produce some more of them….hint, hint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
