Has anyone done much with Strelets Boer war figures – it's one of the colonial wars I'd quite like to do something with – maybe justa large skirmish, maybe something more, bt the only range I can think of is from Strelets.

I've a sort of on-off thing with Strelets, I like that they have some unique sets, but their sculpts sometimes are not of the best (to be kind).

I know I can see them all over on PSR, but I wondered if anyone had actually bought a few boxes, painted them up and gamed with them and what they thought of their look en masse.

Sits back, waits for link to Blog…..

Hi, I picked up several boxes of both mounted and dismounted sets. The figures have a lot of character. Of course, some folks don't like Strelet's. I once owned a lot of Partha Boers. However, they were stolen from me. Since, then I have never bought another Boer Army until Strelet's. Mine are partially done but painting up fine. Their individualistic look only adds to their appearance IMHO. I also plan on using some for my boxer Rebellion civilians.

Thanks,

John

I've got some as well and I agree with John Leahy's comments, there are some great characters among the sets.

I like them quite a lot allthough the poses of the mounted are a bit stupid.
If you're not to picky you could also use them for a Wild West Posse.I will do.
Beside that they will form the core troops for a Boer Free State army for my VSF games.

So am I right to think that they are being used for skirmish games really ? My concern was that due to the individualistic poses they might not look too good en masse.

I see absolutely no reason they won't work. Boers weren't as regimented like their British Army opponents. The figs will work fine.

Thanks,

John

That's a good point, I was thinking about the British before.
