I didn't know how to classify this (fantasy, pulp, horror, SF, etc., even some Lost World concepts), but I'll let you guys enjoy it nonetheless: link What do you think? CC |

Check out pet stores. They often have fish tank terrain with various ruins at sometimes reasonable prices. I've gotten a cool Mayan temple, Greek ruins and Toltec heads at Pet Smart and Petco. |

I second the pet store idea. You could also check the pet section at your local Walmart for similar terrain bits. |

I have a ton of terrain from Pet stores. The stuff is cheap and looks very nice on my table. |

The artwork is very inspirational- the waterfall going through the ruined building, or perhaps aquaduct, the submarine stranded, what looks like Notre Dame, and the effect of shadow and light are very cool stuff. The two different color treatments to the big chamber with the well is well done. The various water levels- some buildings half submerged, others on dry land, add more interest. Makes me want to cover everything in vines and overgrowth. I wish the paintings were also available without the people in them. Just as "lost city" images instead of movie storyboards. Great stuff! It just keeps going and going, getting bigger and bigger. Thanks! |

The pics are great, idea of receding water from a once flooded land, and new things and idea to exsplore |

I'll re-open the pet store discussion with the notation that I saw an awesome 'reef rock' insert, designed to go in the back of an aquarium. It would make an utterly awesome cliff face, though for gaming purposes, might be best to cut to three or four strips. |

Looking at the pictures, you could probably make do with a mixture of foliage and static grass on just about every horizontal surface. |

CC, this is truly awesome! Any thoughts on how you'd do exposed tree roots growing down the front of buildings? I'd be happy to sculpt them, but I'd love to hear about quicker and simpler methods. |

Tanuki, I wish I had brought my camera on this business trip, because I have just the thing. I went to a local Hobby Lobby's floral department and looked at their plastic flowers, plants, greenery, what have you. Among them I found a long (2 to 3 feet long) hanging bunch of what looked like green plastic tentacles or tendrils, each about 2 or 3 inches long, but attached to a long central stem of sorts. I am going to experiment on it this week and let you know how it looks. Even better, if I can get hold of someone's camera this week, I'll post pictures. CC |

As far as roots go: Use the real thing. Swing by a local garden shop, and ask if they have any plants that didn't quite make it. For finer ones, dig up a chunk of crabgrass that has been annoying you. Wash the dirt off, dry them out a bit, and you're good to go. Can sneak in some painted bonsai wire if you want the roots 'posed'. |
