Well, after 20 some odd years of dreaming of it I finally have my war room. It houses a 5 by 10 table, most of my minis, and about half of my military antiques. I have a bunch of pics and videos up on my blog. I plan on being fairly active with updates for at least the next few weeks. Please do take a look, hope you enjoy. Oh and John, you may recognize from the the scenery! :) echoesofglory.blogspot.com Thanks! |

All very nice, I hope you are well insured for all that gear in there. Where is the kettle anyway? |
| FireZouave | 30 Jul 2009 10:38 a.m. PST |
Sean, Fantastic! Looks Great! You did a wonderful job! Who wouldn't want to come over and play in that beautiful room! Funny, the border you put around it with the light blue background, is exactly what I did when I had my battlefield set up. It holds everything in place so that nothing happens when you bump the table or boards, and you can lean on it when you need to reach any distance. It makes for good picture taking too! |

Wow! Most impressive is the handsome English on the armchair. I have a French, myself. |

Very nicely done!!!!! I am officially jealous |
| Tom Reed | 30 Jul 2009 10:54 a.m. PST |
That is the most beautiful game room I have ever laid eyes on. IT seems like a shame to play games in there and mess it all up. Maybe you should just close the door and seal the room for posterity. |

Say, I was at McDowell as well. Several times, in fact.. great place, great event. |
Frederick | 30 Jul 2009 11:07 a.m. PST |
Holy jumpin'! Now this is a standard for the rest of us to aim for! Great work – now if I can just convince my wife of how much it would add to the value of the house – - - |

Wow thanks for all the compliments guys! I DO indeed have a kegerator of sorts, a Krupps Beer Tender (love my heineken). I have been collecting and painting for years. To finally have a chance to put it out has even shocked me. I was up until about 2am last night thinking "Do I really have this??" Some of the larger terrain features were made by FireZouave (several posts above) at Round Top Minis. He's a first rate guy and does amazing work, its the first time since buying the collection almost 2 years ago that I have had the chance to use them. Amazing work John, the roads and walls work so well with rolling terrain! NYC thanks for noticing Tank, most successful relationship I have ever had, hes my partner in crime. Sean |

Insane, as I've said a million times. I can't figure out which I like more
the toy soldier collection, or the antiques collection. The kegerator comment made me laugh, since I know that the keg cooler is about 30 steps from the room
great minds, etc etc. The space around the table is FANTASTIC as well. It is hard to get a table into a room, hang stuff on the wall, and still have room around the sides to put an armchair anywhere you want and allow someone to simultaneously walk by. And yeah, those roads are AMAZING
John, you should really make and sell them, they are the best product I've ever seen; I have never, ever seen anything lie so flat. And the rivers are crazy too; too bad there was no place for them on the table! Anyway
great to see so many years of dreaming and planning finally pay off. Definitely the nicest toy soldier room I've ever seen. Anyone have any links to anything similar? You should have cross posted this at WWII and Fantasy too! |

Now that's a war room! Enjoy that for the rest of us! Mark |

Ooooooh! We're all coming over. See you around 7-ish. Get enough pizza and thai. |

I will have to wait until I get home to see the pictures, as most of them are blocked here at work. I did see the barrister's case though. It sounds like a great room. Is the Potsdam musket an original or a reproduction -- where on earth did you find either? |
| muzik212 | 30 Jul 2009 11:43 a.m. PST |
The Potsdam is an original, all of the longarms are original except for the Charleville and 2nd two band Enfield. I got the Potsdam about 5 years ago at a gun show out on Long Island. It may be one of the bulkiest, some say ugliest imports I have but its my favorite. The brass bands are what made me fall in love with the weapon, its got a great look. Sean |

What is original in the room? Or is it better to ask; what ISN'T original? |
| Condottiere | 30 Jul 2009 12:13 p.m. PST |
Looks really great. Seems you can wage an actual war with all those muskets and swords hanging on the wall, not to mention the uniform! Congrats. Best of luck with it. |

Indeed it is a wonderful room, something that I had planned on doing with my war room, but funding and circumstances being what they are – it will take a bit longer. I've got to share my room with everyone else so it is cluttered at the moment. Envious of you, I am not. Applaud you – most certainly! Well done and happy gaming – keep us posted on all of the fun times in your new home game room! |

Nicely done. Many happy hours of gaming. |

Pavelft, yep
BTC is for me! In fact I think you're the dude that was working the booth when I bought most of it at Cold Wars and Fall in last year? Sean |

| Caliban | 30 Jul 2009 12:49 p.m. PST |
Can't say much more than has already been said. But I think I will nick the table curtains idea when I finally get round to doing my games room. In about seven years or so

Sean, Cold Wars more than likely, I didn't make it to Fall-In due to moving to Denver. I'll be back at Fall-In this year though so perhaps I'll see you there if you drop by! Forest |

Right now I am using three 2 1/2 x 5' folding tables for a 5' x 7 1/2' gaming table but I have been thinking about building a 5'x7' table with storage underneath. Your table give me some good inspiration. |

Beautiful
Thanks for the inspiration. Peter |

Nope no kids
single + no kids + 4 Bedroom home = wargames bliss :) Seriously though thank you for all the compliments. I was up until about 1am again last night just sitting in the room and taking it in. Sean |

I think the twenty years was worth the wait. I love my little wargames space but yours is something to aspire to. All I need is a lottery win, the kids to leave home and the wife to agree
..I might have to wait longer than twenty years. Of course real gamers don't keep there wargames rooms that tidy;) |
Der Alte Fritz | 31 Jul 2009 9:10 a.m. PST |
I finally had a chance to look at the pictures at home last night. You have the best looking wargame room that I have ever seen – reminds me of the one in the Callan TV series. I see that you are a connoisseur of Herb Gundt buildings. Would you be interested in acquiring the Lutheran Seminary and McPherson's Barn at Gettysburg that Herb made for me? I'm divesting my ACW collection. |

Der Alte Fritz, Yes definitely interested, sent you a private message. |

That is awesome.. I'm guessing you're in the US looking at the firearms.. I would like a single Musket in my room so will have to look around. Well done = ) |

VERY nice. Someday (maybe) I'll have a room like that. I certainly have the stuff to fill one out! LOVE the terrain, especially the barn. I'll have to make one of those! Wonder if there are plans for it available? |

Sean, What? no beerholders on the table edge? What kind of cheap, chintzy, low rate kind of game-room do you run? Have your players no standards? In all seriousness, your room is
beeyooteeful. I envy. Kind regards, Jim |
