The Blog has been quieter than ussual this month, but with one TMP Workbench article and the launch of a completely new range of 40mm American War of Independece/American Civil War terrain pieces I know that this has been a busy month – possibly one of my busiest on the modelling front!

Please check out the Blog and new resin castings, which are available from Grand Manner, see grandmanner.co.uk

Regards and thanks to everyone for the support during the set up period.

I am not seeing any 40MM at the website. What page are they on?

The Hoskin's house kitchen appears to be correct but the Hoskin's house is open to conjecture…it is nicely done but may not be accurate.

I think the problem is that the official launch is CLAYMORE later this week and I have been to quick to include a link. I've already seen the advert and that is why I have the details.

You are correct. Trying to get anything like accurate information on the Hoskin's Farm buildings is very difficult. In the end I based the two buildings, the log store and the cooking pot models on the painting by Dale Gallion, with the front of the house copying the reproduction at Tannenbaum National Park. Not perfect, but I am happy with it.

One of the biggest issues I have in trying to produce accurate models of buildings from the AWI is that there are so many conflicting reports and images. A prime example is Guilford Courthouse, where I have modelled the walls with clapperboard, then saw information saying that the building would have been a log cabin! (My model has clapperboard walls as seen in some Osprey illustrations of the battle field).

If anyone can supply information I would be gratefull.

Regards and once again thank you for the comments.

Now I see them at dampfpanzerwagon.blogspot.com

They look great, excellent work. I do not live far from Valley Forge and I was always fond of those style cabins.
YOu did well!

When Chris Hughes and I worked on the 28mm diorama at Tannenbaum Park we consulted the National Park service and local staff about the buildings…at that point, ten years ago, they were adament about the Hoskins House and Hoskins kitchen appearing as the buildings on the Tannebaum site look. We went around and around with the staff about the Courthouse and based on contemporary descriptions concluded it was a clapboard building, with a center hallway that provided access to two courtrooms, one on either side. Not sure where or when the thinking about it being a log cabin began. We were lucky enough to get Architectual Heritage to produce all three buildings and used them in the diorama.
