Was thinking yesterday about what other troops this set could be used for when its released. By combining the spare heads from the French line sets, I reckon French Marine infantry from 1813 to 1814 would be a possibility. They wore a double breasted greatcoat with epaulettes, i've seen a picture with them in covered shakos and bicornes so think that would work. Also maybe French Leger? Afaik, their greatcoat was single or double breasted so by using the line infantry heads, that might work too. Would be interested on your thoughts and any other ideas! |

Hi Simon, When they come out we will be putting some articles on the website to indicate other uses for the figures, so this thread will be quite interesting. Things we have come up with so far are:- 1)French Battalions made up of Sailors in the 1813 campaign,as you mention. They were issued with Blue Greatcoats and had black leather crossbelts, should make for an interesting few units. 2) Use the heads from the set and stick them on the First French set Grenadier bodies to make Imperial Guard in long tailed coats and trousers. (When we bring out the set in long gaiters you will then be able to make Imperial Guard in full dress) 3) Use heads form the Voltigeurs and Grenadiers to make Line Grenadiers and Voltiguers or Legere in Great coats. I have also seen refernce for single and double breasted greatcoats for the line. I am sure there will be a lot more can be done once the Bicornes set is out and a bit of Greenstuff. Also when the Dragoons come out we are having a few dismounted in the box but you will be able to use the heads, stick them on the first French set bodies and make even more variety of dismounted Dragoons. This is the bonus as the ranges expand, there becomes more and more opportunity for cross fertiliseation betwen sets. Regards, Steve. |
