I've been inspired lately by Two Hour Wargames excellent set of Vietnam rules, "FNG". I jumped into the game with both feet and have been working hard on a new set of terrain just for the game. Not to mention anxiously awaiting the rules "Ambush Valley" from Ambush Alley. Anyhow, I've been documenting my progress on Angel Barracks' 6mm wargame forum. If you are interested, stop by and look at my progress. Now I've got to get to work on the troops.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, both positive and negative.

I'm also looking at using the same terrain for WWII pacific. Lets get them Japanese done. This way I can cover two eras with the same terrain. I'll need to add beaches to get it ready for amphibious assaults.

Nice terrain. Well done!

Tis looking very good, and at a rapid pace.

My next two phases should be a Local village or Hamlet and the beginings of a Fire Support Base or Outpost. I'll also be adding more larger river sections and the next batch of jungle trees. The village will include a trail section and a few fields and more extensive Rice paddies.

Not normally a fan of hexes but these work well.

That is looking really good!
Say, how are you planning on basing your infantry? Some of those hills/gnolls look a little too slim to be able to stand a figure on…

I saw a guy use very thin pins on the bottom of some "baseless" infantry at Historicon, so he could poke them into his boards, and they worked a treat! (I think he used blue foam though).

How did the game go?

This weekends game got nixed, however, I'll run a solo game this week followed by two linked battles on Saturday.

I'm mounting the figures on size 6 washers for easier handling and so the level and squad afilliations can be easily marked. 1 line for Rep 3, two for Rep 4, and so on. Color coded for squads and platoons. I don't see the hills being a major problem, as the figures can be fudged a bit.

However, when I mount the second wave in fire teams, the larger washers should work fine on the terrain.
