Not my planned subject for the blog this weekend, but some rather impressive pictures nonetheless
Enjoy WWII "in the grand manner"

What rules did you use? I am working on painting some Conte and Marx/Airfix recasts. I like the work your friend did. It is impressive that he created his own buildings.

That is just too darn cool! I've never actually gamed with 1/35 scale miniatures but I have to admit that I've occasionally looked at my stash of kits and thought about it.

Crossfire, with some very minor changes to the armour rules

I've thought about crossfire in 1:1 groundscale with 1/35 minis. I'd love to know what those very minor changes were.

the only changes we have made are….
Vehicle MG's only get 3 dice, not 4 (Unless they are specialist MG vehicles like a Bren carrier with a vickers)
A.T. to hit rolls are simplified. All ATG's hit on a base 3,4,5,6. Long tank guns hit on a 4,5,6. short barreled guns hit on a 5,6.
we use the standard armour values, the difference being that the armour must be EXCEEDED rather than equalled. If more than a 6 is required then 7= 6 followed by 4,5,6.an 8 = 6 +5,6 etc.
Each vehicle can perform a number of actions per initiative, typically 2 but a fast tank such as a Cromwell would get 3, a tiger would only get 1.
+1 action if the vehicle remains entirely on a road
These actions could be: Move in a straight line, pivot up to 90 degrees, turn turret 90 degrees and fire.
All actions to be taken before moving on to another stand.
If a tank moves and then fires in the same initiative,it gets a minus 1 to hit.
Group moves/fires for vehicles if within LOS of a relevant command vehicle.
open topped vehicles can be pinned or suppressed (but never KO'd) by indirect fire
Thats about it….these are really to help upping the scale of forces used rather than lowering it, I don't quite follow your notion of a 1 to 1 groundscale…..there is no groundscale in crossfire…thats the whole point!
