Size and 'chunkiness' -makes the minis look bigger. Not to mix minis of different manufacturers in the same unit -certainly unwise, except perhaps for some officers- but to combine homogeneous regiments in a single army. It would be ludicrious that e.g. 'Eastern Light Horse' ("little men mounted on ponies") would be larger than regular 'heavy' cavalry ("cuirassiers;'giants riding elephants'"); Guard grenadiers are to be taller than militiamen. Ideally the larger minis should be used for 'heavies' / Guards, the medium ones for line infantry, dragoons and most artillery, the smaller / most skinny for 'lights', and 'poor quality' troops (reflecting their 'inferiority). In the same vein, how do Foundry 'Chevaliers-Gardes in ceremonial dress' picture compare with Musketeer and Reiver cavalry? (I know they are not from the same period -but the army is to be that of an Imagi-Nation, and the Chevaliers-Gardes are spectacular, with some 'archaic' features, so
)? Thanks in advance, Jean-Louis |

The style is different, but size-wise the infantry from Musketeer/Reiver should be compatible with Foundry SYW figures. Foundry's GNW range is older however, and therefore probably smaller. Afraid I have no first-hand knowledge of Musketeer/Reiver cavalry. The Chevaliers-Gardes would certainly look splendid in any imagi-nation (Hmm, why didn't I think of it?) |

The Chevaliers-Gardes would certainly look splendid in any imagi-nation Old Glory 'Governor's Guards' (from their 'Pirates' range) picture are not bad either, but unfortunately unarmoured. Now, the Schaumburg-Lippe-Bückeburg Karabiniers, if mounted on *impressive* horses (with leads to another thread TMP link )
